Quote from above:
"The Logical explanation is that the Shellfish issue is not reiterated in the New Testemant but Homosexuality is addressed. We know which issues remained important for those generations to come, by reading the NT."
End quote
So what is important to mankind evolved. Why can't we move forward and let the whole gay thing go? Then we can love and embrace our gay friends over grilled shellfish on a warm summer day.
If we wrote a *new* new testament then we could reiterate things like "do not pass judgment", "love thy neighbor",... things like that so people will feel at liberty to love each other and not feel pressured to pass judgment ~ or to act on those judgments in verbally and physically violent ways.

Here's the logical reason, but shhh! It's a secret...
(Christians don't really BELIEVE the Jewish scriptures!)
Follow me on this one:
They SAY they believe them...but hey, only the parts that weren't "done away with". What parts were done away with? The parts that would offend the gentile people that Paul wanted to convert.
So Christians will quote the pretty parts--the Psalms and other scripture that make them feel good. Heck, they'll even pull parts out of context and use them! But the real, actual, substantive parts of the Bible--well, that's when they grin and back away, saying that their man-god did away with all of that stuff.
For instance--Christians will tell you (and some just did) that all those rules about eating were simply sanitation matters. They aren't really necessary any more, now that we have refrigeration, right? The truth is that those laws have nothing to do with sanitation. They were given to us for all time--not till we got electricity. ALL of G-d's Torah is applicable for Jews, now and forever.
The truth is that we don't know the why of all of the Law. We don't know why we aren't supposed to wear mixed fibers, for instance. We DO believe (those of us who are religious) that we are to obey the Law that G-d told us was eternal.
And there's the proof that Christians don't believe the Bible: G-d says it is eternal, and they say it isn't.
So--J8sus said nothing about shellfish, so they believe it's okay to eat it. Paul condemned homosexuality, so they say it's wrong.
And they totally ignore the fact that the Torah uses the same Hebrew word for "abomination" to describe both.
...The bottom line is that they like to USE the Torah when it suits their purposes...but they don't actually BELIEVE it.

These two prohibitions come from a section of the Book of Leviticus called the holiness code. These laws pertain to ritual purity rather than morality per se. St. Paul fought a battle with St. Peter to absolve gentile Christians of the obligation to become Jews and follow the Law. That is why modern Christians can eat shellfish, pork, etc. If this section of Leviticus is interpreted correctly, then homosexuality is a purity issue not a moral one.
However, moral arguments against homosexuality also come from other parts of the Bible and also from general cultural attitudes we have inherited.
Not all Christians or Jews believe that homosexuality is wrong.
I hope that helps to clarify.

I can't give you a logical explanation except to say I take what some would call an illogical road. For me I have no problem with gay people, but I avoid shellfish. Go figure, but I do a lot of things differently. (((((((((Zilla))))))))))

sorry but shellfish are how God made them and I believe that homosexual acts are disordered---Love the sinner hate the sin. The incidence of food borne illness with shellfish had dropped tremendously too. This had alot to do with the Jewish people had no where to go when they died but Hell, so God was trying to keep them alive as long as possible but after Jesus died it wasn't necessary---yeehaw!!! clambakes on the beach with lobsters!!! Homosexuals I think they just have a real tough time of it but then so do people who have a thyroid problem and ya know what ---they still have to watch what they eat even though they have the built in excuse.

Sure.
Oh.... a logical explanation.
Nope, sorry.
EDIT- to those who feel it is logical because homosexuality is also mentioned in the New Testament. You may want to check out the NT's condoning of slavery before claiming to follow it literally.
"Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. " (Ephesians 6:5 NLT)
"Christians who are slaves should give their masters full respect so that the name of God and his teaching will not be shamed. If your master is a Christian, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. You should work all the harder because you are helping another believer by your efforts. Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them." (1 Timothy 6:1-2 NLT)

Dietary laws come from the Old Testament because there was not clear or convenient sanitation in those days. Quite simply, shellfish are unsafe to eat unless handled properly, which was very hard in those times. (No refrigeration, you know).

The logical explanation is that few people understand the biblical concept of "purity", which really has little if anything to do with "morality" let alone "sinfulness". If you don't understand the priestly idea of "purity" you get into these weird pick-and-choose interpretations.
Peace to you.

SHELFISH
Colossians 2:16 (King James Version)
16Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
1 Timothy 4 (King James Version)
1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth
4For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer
6If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
HOMOSEXUALS
Romans 1:24-32 (King James Version)
24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
NOTE CAREFULLY_ that i did not say these things-THE BIBLE DID!
Now the question becomes this; why do homosexuals try so hard to associate with a doctrine that is clearly in violation of their lifestyle? The Bible will not change so i guess homosexuals will have to face reality sooner or later. that is, to come to a decision on their choice of living or the Bible's way of living.
Hope this answered your question
