The prohibition on shellfish comes from the dietary laws within the Leviticus Covanent. Though some christians say that people a bound by the laws of god, so they pick and choose laws within Leviticus to follow.
Though if a person actually does read Leviticus, it says that a person has to make a Peace Offering sacrifice at the Temple of the Mount and has to uphold each and every tenet within Leviticus to remain a part of it. Technically, since the destruction of the Temple of the Mount and the muslims building the Golden Domed Mosque upon the site, no one can offer up such sacrice, so technically no one on earth is a part of the covanent.
Some of the laws within Leviticus were design to stop canaanite mythos and ritual practices among the 'children of god', like the no tattoos one--at the time canaanites would tattoo the names of dead ancestors upon themselves for empowerment--not really about artwork tats.
Some of the Laws were also im place to 'separate' the 'chosen' from other people. In many ways, the Levites in this case were being PURISTS. They had THEIR concept wahat 'nomal' was and enforced it. Shellfish wasn't a part of the IN LAND, desert nomadic people. To eat such would not be what 'god' had given their people to eat, so a no no if ya did.

It could be b/c back then shellfish were scavengers who lived at the bottom of the ocean. Also because God was teaching us how to live healthy in the Old Testament and it is not a heaven or hell issue u can eat shellfish it's just the health issue.

Shellfish were on the list of unclean foods given to the Israelites by Moses. Most Christian denominations do not believe that these instructions are meant to be followed now days.

Simple . The Christian god likes to make arbitrary dumb rules like that FOR THE PURPOSE of watching the faithful break the rules and feel guilty. God actually feeds on guilt.
God is like that alien from that Star Trek episode where the alien monster derived nourishment from the emotion of fear, and had really been Jack the Ripper. This Christian god, in my opinion, feeds on guilt. That is why there are Jewish mothers. Guilt, Old Testament style.

Who told you that? We can eat whatever we like - pretty much like anyone else (unless there is an allergy to it. There are other religions though, that won't eat shellfish.

I thought it was just Jewish people. I think most shellfish are bottom feeders and at that time, I don't think they could sterilize them. I can't eat them because of the diet I'm on.

According to the bible, God lifted the curse(good food and bad food), In the book of Acts when Peter was sitting on the roof and the Lord allowed him to see the sheet with all manner of animals on it. Saying the animals that Peter was taught as being bad were no longer bad.

It does not apply to Christians only. There are clean and unclean animals. Unclean animals such as scavengers are designed to help keep the world clean. These unclean animals cannot rid their flesh of the poisons they were designed to intake. It is common sense for everyone that wants good health not to eat unclean animals.
