AHFH in Hawaii is just awful. They gave me a mailbox key that didn't work then tried to charge me $25 to change the lock. After 4 phone calls and alot of bitching they agreed to do it no charge.
Now, we have been living here since May and we have had people out here 4 times to figure out what is wrong with our downstairs toilet. They could never figure out why it overflows all the time. Today I demanded that the man look inside the toilet for a blockage and he found a large plastic thing. He says he can tell by looking at it that it was recently flushed and that we are going to be billed for his visit.

I am going to lose my mind on someone!

It's got to be a base by base difference. Maintenance here (Subase New London) is great. They are the true shining star in the GMH management group.

However the GMH housing people need to be trained on how to pick up the phone and return calls. I know at least 5 people personally (including myself) who have had to go down and stage a sit in at the office to get to talk to ANYONE there. This is all after getting fed up enough with unreturned calls that they've started documenting when they called and what message they left and having the documented list reach at least 20 messages. I've written letters for myself and a friend that resulted in the corporate office sending out gift cards because the service here was so bad. But they still won't train their personnel to return phone calls.

If you have to deal with them, keep copies of all documents and never give them ANY originals. They are also notorious for loosing paperwork. Make sure you get any promises they make IN WRITING. And have a ton of patience when trying to get a hold of anyone. Don't be afraid to make noise if they are not treating you right. Sometimes that's what it takes to get things straigtened out here.

Ft. Hood, I must say although nice the workers are dumb a**es, to make the story short..our sink backed up in the kitchen..well this is what resulted in it, we moved out of our house for 2 weeks into temp housing..while they ripped up our entire top driveway, the front yard (which took 5weeks to fix) ripped out the kitchen floor..cabinets, stove...yes ladies and gentleman all for a stopped up sink that had gotten food stuck in it..too top it off I asked if I needed to clean out the fridge before I left they said no it would NOT be unplugged..oh no 2 weeks later we went home opened the fridge and WOW....yeah nasty..needless to say they took the fidge that day and replaced with a brand new one that day... I swear they have no idea what they are doing..however a new stove, refrigerator, sink, kitchen floor, cabinets, driveway, and front yard was nice to have, lmao :-)

PPV housing is EVIL. and for that reason we will NEVER live in CONUS base housing again.
