If something you desire is what you know to be contrary to the Bible, and you are enticed by someone else, or just on your own, that is temptation. If you do it knowing it is against the Bible that is giving into temptation. That's why Jesus tells us to say a prayer like the Our Father.

Temptation has to do with committing sin.... so only something sinful can bring temptation.
For some, eating chocolate might be a sin. Perhaps they promised they wouldn't. Perhaps they know they shouldn't - for whatever reason.
For others who have no vows against chocolate, eating some wouldn't be a sin. Therefore, there is no temptation involved.

There are the big bad temptations ..like murder that would be bad. The temptations like chocolate are a personal decision. God didn't say anything about it. So..it's up to you to know when you are being stupid. If it will cause harm, hurt or injury..it's time to draw the line.

eating chocolate isn't a sin. eating 4 pounds of chocolate might be - gluttony. giving into temptation is a sin if that act is defined as a sin in the bible. such as drunkenness or homosexuality. these are temptations for some people and not others. if they give into these, then they are sinning.

Giving your body a food that it craves in order to fulfill a natural need for one or more of the chemical compounds in it is not the same as giving in to the temptation to commit a carnal or sinful act.

Temptation is simply the "pull" towards something. Giving in to temptation is when you actually partake in the thing you are being "pulled" towards.

Temptation is simply the motivation to do something wrong.
e.g.
I'm tempted to knock someone's teeth off when they tick me off badly.
It's not a sin to be tempted, but giving into it is. Like for example, I actually punched the guy who ticked me off. That was bad cuz I gave in when I should've had better control of my temper.

I'm not Christian, but temptation is temptation.
Giving into temptation is giving into your desires.

Being tempted is not a sin. If you are giving into a sinful practice, that would be considered wrong. For example, if you give into alcohol, that is wrong. If you have a strong desire for carrots, I don't think that would be a sin.
Bottom line, depends on the craving.
