A friend of mine gave me a yard card for Christmas and I took it knowing full well that I wouldnt put it out. Gave it to my son. He in turn gave it away.. Told my friend that I gave it to him .. now she is pissed cause I took it after I told her that. Knowing me I told her that I dont put out stuff like that at Christmas time. Well she kinda puffed up at that remark and wondered why I took it to start with. Well stupid me took it as a present. ONe that I wasnt planning on using to start with. NOW what do I do..? Go out and replace that one and send it back to her? I am in a fix. So So stupid for me telling her to start with.. BUT? I did it. I could kick myself for that but? No need in crying over spilled milk.. Let me know how you feel. Plum sick at my stomach over this.

Being honest is one thing but you have to be careful not to hurt someones feelings in the process. I think that is what happened in your case. All you can do is apoligize and hope she forgives you. If it will hurt them then LIE like a dog! Honesty isn't always the best policy!

I think what you did was the best thing. Being honest will help you in the long run and you'll also have enemies.People may not like you because your honest and trust me for your enemies, it would hurt them more than how it would hurt you because you know that you've done the right thing. Even though it may cost you your friends, telling the truth is much better. Your friend might get over it by the fact that you told the truth. It would be worst if you told your friend a lie and she found out.

People sometimes call me "brutally honest" and in these situations that might be a trait you should pick up. You may make people angry but it will help you avoid situations like this and you wont have to worry about it. I find it a lot easier to tell people exactly what I'm thinking rather than lying to them and making myself miserable. And even if people get upset with the truth they usually can see past it and accept how you feel and they may even respect you a little more.

honesty is the best policy
you can't help other peoples flaws
and that includes thin skin and or insecurities
i find the best Friends are honest and true friends
no hi / bye friends who you really never get to know in depth
such people are only there for good times and waffle in the bad times
I'd rather have 2 good friends then 100s of hi / bye friends

Being deceptive will only lead to a dead end. Just see if your son can get the item back. Think positive thoughts about the outcome and see what happens.

You should tell the truth. It was a gift. A gift is your to do with as you please. If you had given it back to her and said that you don't use them she also would have been mad. I would just tell her that you are sorry and that you thought that she would have been offended if you returned your gift. Then let it go. I would always tell the truth just be tactful. It sounds like you were.
