On R&S? This is nothing new. The opposition of each others "outlook" has been around much longer than the internet has....

One day recently I noticed I was getting aggresive in my answers, snapping at people because I felt their questions were just to fuel arguments and hostility between people.

I took a step back and decided to avoid questions that were deliberately provocative/argumentative. When I speak about my relationship with Jesus to someone who asks an honest question I am sharing about the most important relationship in my life. I love Jesus. I want hurting people to see how much God loves them. I'm not here to put others down or exalt myself. The Bible is clear about not getting into divisive arguments. So, I'm going to be selective and careful in this part of the forum. When it gets too heavy, I go to Polls and Surveys - they make me laugh.

Yes, and it's a shame because I would really like to learn more about what other religions think. I would love to hear more from the Pagans, Jews and Muslims and their beliefs. It seems like it's the same 10 questions all the time.

No. But I do love this area because of debate. It's basically devout religious people (mainly Christian, but I'm officially Christian so don't think I'm being mean) versus the more relaxed and reformed people.

Sorry it seems to turn to this
Just that no respect is shown to most questioners. Some people desire to have an answer from certain people instead of general, then you get responses from the "other end," demanding their two cents of freedom of speech.

Since they show no respect, they usually don't receive it, either.

Problem is, R&S gets touchy, and it is so easy for some to "sling mud," safely behind their keyboard.

It was that before it's creation. As long as two groups of people have such drastic ideas and both vehemently try to disprove or invalidate the other it will remain that way.

Many times, yes.
Even those who want to ask a serious question will get snide comments from those who want to bash. You have to be willing to wade through the muck if you want to get anything out of it. Just the way it is.

I think that some like to argue, but I enjoy just hearing what other people's opinions are. Whether we agree or not, we should treat others with respect.
