I know this question is about a *hot* topic so try to keep it clean people.

Why do you believe in god or why don't you believe in god?

I want to hear everyone's point-of-view.

To be honest, I don't know what to believe. I do not have the capacity to comprehend if there could or could not be something out there. And to imagine either one can be terrifying. Nor would I be so bold as to presume what could be there.

I don't believe in religion, because I believe that it is rigid and it is my nature to not like to be told what I can and cannot do by someone else and I believe all religions are written to control people. And unfortunately, in many cases, [not all] I have come across people who use their religion for gain and not for what it may have been intended, which is troubling to me.

I believe in energy, good and bad. I believe there could be something there. But, I cannot be so egotistical to think that we could be the only ones, either. Look at how many solar systems and how many galaxies with other solar systems there are in the universe.

I believe in spirits of some sort, as I have experienced unusual things in my life. I believe in guardian angels, whether they are of God or not. I believe I am being watched over by someone/something and I have been blessed.

And I believe that while I may not worship in the house of the Lord, I do live my life as a kind, generous, genuine person who seeks to help others and herself and I can only think that it is enough for me in the end.

I believe in God. I know He exists because of the spiritual experiences I've had in my life.

It's hard to look up at the stars and not feel that there is something greater than ourselves out there.

The proof and evidence is all around you and everywhere, undeniable proof, and indisputable visible evidence. It is called creation and life. Unless your are blind, deaf, and senseless. You can see, smell, taste, hear, feel, and examine the evidence.

We live on a planet teeming with life. Plant life with approximately 250,000 species, animal life with over a million species. Scientists are learning just how complex life is. So complex that it requires design. The evidence of design requires a designer. Scientists are also learning the conditions for life; just how perfect conditions here on planet Earth are to support all this life.

The human brain, it absorbs forty megabytes per second of data while awake. That is two terabytes of data a day. At night, it sorts and stores that data through the creation of new chemical bonds and synaptic connectors.

Sure, right, this all just happened and evolved. This sort of thinking takes considerable faith, exponentially more faith than believing in a creator.

I don't believe in God for the same reason I don't believe in pink unicorns. There is no evidence they exist outside some books.

Don't. Lack of evidence, simple as that. Same reason I don't believe in Santa Claus, Mother Goose, ghosts, devils, demons, unicorns, honest politicians, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

If you're simply referring to whether or not I believe God exists, then the answer is yes. But if you are asking whether or not I personally have faith in him, the answer is no.

i don't believe in organized religion because it is the product of man and it is incredibly destructive.

i do believe in some kind of unexplained higher intelligence because of my studies in geology, history, anatomy, and astronomy.

coincidence isn't a good enough explanation for me. but i refuse to believe i have to necessarily accept a historical figure as my savior to move to the next level of existence.
