I tell them not to bother me again, but of course they do. Has anyone got a final solution to eliminate these pests from my life? Thanks.

I have an unlisted telephone number, that helps.

If I receive a call, I butt into their schpeil and tell them, "Thanks, not interested" and hang up.

Andy Rooney on "60 Minutes" had a solution: Tell the caller, "Could you hold for a moment?", set the phone down, and wait until you hear the beep-beep-beep, indicating that the caller has hung up.

The National, "Do not call" is good, and has eleminated all the golf-club telemarketers, but I still get a few calls from others.

1. get caller ID and only answer the phone when a recognizable # rings.
2. if you answer and hear silence for more than 2 seconds, hang up immediately because most cold-calls start this way, I think they are using some kind of system that delays the connection until they determine a live person has answered.
3. Do like Jerry Seinfeld did in an episode, "I'm sorry, I'm busy now. Let me get your home phone # and I can call you back when I'm free so we can talk further. Oh, you're not allowed to do that? I guess you don't want people calling you at home and bugging you? Well, now you know how I feel. (click)"

Yeah, put your phone numbers on the Do Not Call list. Then if any do get through , tell them to hang on a minute, lay the phone down and walk a way. Most call rooms do not let their callers hang up on you so they will be stuck waiting or have to get their supervisor to authorize their hanging up. This wastes their time as much as they waste yours. After a few times they will take you off their list!

I simply don't answer the phone. I let the answering machine pick it up then I listen who it is. Usually if it's a telemarketer they hang up without leaving a message. They get tired of calling.

Say, "Oh, are you talking about the product I already have?" Then they'll go away, or go on the Do Not Call list. That'll eliminate most of them. Or use caller identification. (Can't spell ide.) Don't answer calls you don't recognize.

Enroll in the National Do Not Call Registry. It will get rid of the majority of the calls.

I listed myself on the federal do not contact list. That stopped them cold. If they still call, they are breaking a federal law. Look it up on the internet.

Call the Do Not Call hotline and register. It's as simple as that. Just make sure you do it every three years or so as they have an expiration date.

Get Privacy Director; the calls won't get through. Forget the do not call list; won't do a thing.

I did tel-marketing once when I was in high school, and you tell them to put you on there never call list and that is supposed to keep that co. from soliciting you. Hope this helps.
