While most people say they believe in God, many do not think of him as a real person. Is he? Well, it can be seen that where there is intelligence there is a mind. For example, we may say, ‘I cannot make up my mind.’ And we know that where there is a mind there is a brain in a body of a definite shape. So, then, the great mind responsible for all creation belongs to the great Person, Almighty God. Although he does not have a material body, he has a spiritual one. A spirit person has a body? Yes, the Bible says: “If there is a physical body, there is also a spiritual one.”—1 Corinthians 15:44; John 4:24.

7 Since God is a person with a spiritual body, he must have a place to live. The Bible tells us that the heavens are God’s “established place of dwelling.” (1 Kings 8:43) Also, we are told that “Christ entered . . . into heaven itself, now to appear before the person of God for us.” (Hebrews 9:24) Some humans will be rewarded with life in heaven with God, at which time they will receive spirit bodies. They will then see God, the Bible says, and also be like him. (1 John 3:2) This, too, shows that God is a person, and that he has a body.

8 But someone may ask: ‘If God is a real person who lives at a certain place in heaven, how can he see everything that happens everywhere? And how can his power be felt in every part of the universe?’ (2 Chronicles 16:9) The fact that God is a person in no way limits his power or greatness. Nor should it lessen our respect for Him. (1 Chronicles 29:11-13) To help us to understand this, consider the far-reaching effects of an electric power plant.

9 A power plant has a certain location in or near a city. But its electricity is distributed over all that area, providing light and power. It is similar with God. He is in the heavens. (Isaiah 57:15; Psalm 123:1) Yet his holy spirit, which is his invisible active force, can be felt everywhere, over all the universe. By means of his holy spirit God created the heavens, the earth and all living things. (Psalm 33:6; Genesis 1:2; Psalm 104:30) To create these things, God did not need to be present in body. He can send out his spirit, his active force, to do whatever he wants even though he is far away. What a marvelous God!—Jeremiah 10:12; Daniel 4:35.

It is mostly a problem with modern English language. When sex is unknown, we use the masculine form of address. Since God is a spirit creature, neither male or female, and "It" just would not be right. We call God a Him.

I believe that whatever God is, spirit, energy, light or something entirely beyond our comprehension, He is certainly not human/mortal. Therefore He is not a he or a she. But we say He because this is what the Bible teaches. In prayers we say Father.

My sister goes to Unity and they express God as both father and mother.

Others express god as mother.

What does it matter?

What we call God does not change who God is.

Because everyone assumes they mean the Christian god. In ancient religions the 'creator' was a woman. I suppose it all depends on the religion and sadly basically all religions believe in a male creator. Also in the US it seems like most people are Christian and they just assume everyone else believes in a male god. I don't. I believe in the Goddess. And She is NOT a male.

Because they follow a book rather than reason. Don't waste your time with this, in order to get someone to refer to God as Her, you will need someone who abandons the book and uses their head, at which point you will dealing with an Atheist.

Another reason is that women are physically weaker than men, demanding an icon of omnipotence to not be portrayed by a physically weak abstract.

for Mother Nature knowing the truth but was made god by nature itself, said that there is no gods.. humans no matter their spiritual presence or power should not deceive humanity by allowing themselves to be called gods..... She also said that people making religions in her name shall be destroyed for religions are deceptive and evil... So they made her god against her will then she proclaimed as god.. the only sin under her is the practice of religion.. And she will continue to battle against religion making her the last god.... and she denies godship making it as if there is no god before she dies...

Genesis 2:7, And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. When Jesus came to earth he called himself the Son of Man.
The Bible says let us make man in our image, no where in the Bible does it even name women angels. Did you know Jesus Christ came to earth to die for you, He gave his life for you, Remember John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. All we have to do is accept Christs free gift of Salvation. Have you ever prayed the sinners prayer and let Christ into your heart. You can be saved today, right now, Jesus says come as your are, if you believe in Jesus just pray Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. Jesus will now send his Holy Spirit to come and live in your heart and guide you into all truth. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!!

Because they are usually referring to the Christian God that Christians believe is male.

Other religions, older religions, have a female deity.

It really depends on the religion.

In the Bible, God is said to be "Him", that is why I refer to Him as so. God is a spiritual being, therefore God does not possess the human characteristics that we have. God is referred to as "Him", because that is what it says in the Bible and that is the way He is viewed in it.

God created Adam in his own image, MALE!
God wanted Adam to mate with some of the animals of His creation... Eve was created as an afterthought after God couldn't find any ANIMAL to mate with Adam to Adam's fullest satifaction. God admitted that it was "no good" for man to be alone so he created Eve, too!
