Yes. Depending on which poll you choose to believe, ten to fifteen percent of Americans (and presumably similar percentages of Canadians) are atheists, agnostics, or "no religion." The percentage is higher among people under 30 and those with college educations.
Some of your christian and jewish friends may also be atheists who have chosen -- for whatever reason -- not to be open about it. You may be tempted to sound them out in an effort to discover their true feelings, but you should be very careful; it's a sensitive subject and people can become very defensive, very fast.
Having said that, there are organizations which welcome atheists and agnostics. There may be a branch of the Center for Inquiry near your hometown; that's an interesting and stimulating place for students. Or try the links below.
Good luck.

I'm an atheist (of sorts), and I actually agree with what you're saying. If someone is asking about the content of a bible story, people shouldn't feel the need to point out whether it's real or not. People still have the right to wonder about its contents. And actually, people do that about Harry Potter as well. If someone asks about something in the story, there's usually always one idiot who has to say 'It's magic, it's not real, it doesn't matter'. Yes, we know that it's a fictional story, but that doesn't mean we can't talk about the contents in a serious manner. But I also think you're generalising. If you could have narrowed it down to '/some/ atheists', people would not feel as offended.

I'm an atheist. You're not alone. It feels like it becuase everyone talks about Christian and Jewish. Most Atheists probably don't tell anyone becuase they don't want Christians treating them differently. That's why I've only told my close friends that are also Atheist.

The majority of my friends (and neighbors) are atheists. You sound young (I'm guessing around 20?). As you get older you'll find that more and more of your circle of friends are atheists.
