i think it's: Hawaii es muy divertido porque...
but i was "es" to be past tense, so it would be "Hawaii was" and not "Hawaii is". help??

You can say "Hawai fue muy divertido porque..."
the verb "ser" is irregular and past tense is "fue".

I would use Hawaii era muy divertido porque... .
I like era here because this clause probably introduces
another one here and also because it probably
still is.
If we said fue it would mean that it was fun once
but it no longer is.
Does that make sense?
