This video is horrifying, but it really made me appreciate what Jesus did for me: http://youtube.com/watch?v=jXBQNFwJ8wo

My question is, no matter what way Jesus died, the sins of the world would be atoned for once and for all. Why did he choose crucifixion when a less painful death (e.g. beheading or poisioning) would have accomplished his goal anyways?

why did you prefer suffering to comfort?
toiling to rest?
shame to glory?
why? why? why? Oh LORD my GOD! Did you prefer, the cross to the throne-which is carried by the Cherubim? OH how great is your love for me?
You can be sent in to be tied in ropes-to release me from the bonds of my sin. you humbmled yourself to raise me up when the storms rise up against me! Oh my humble redeemer allow me to cherish your sufferings as my treasure and your crown of thorns as my glory and your your merciness in my mouth.

its a fraction from my liturgy its amazing...
but if he was beheaded he would feel no pain it would be done and over with..He suffered for us. you wouldnt feel so bad if He got beheaded...but look how much he suffered on that cross! for you and me!

Okay, the dying on the cross wasnt "how" we were forgiven for the sins.

Jesus became the spokesperson for God and knew that in the lifetime he lived in it would end in persecution-the cross is just how they did it back then-It could have been a needle, an electric chair, or whatever-it was just the "Times" he was in. Lots of people were placed on a cross in his time.

The point is, He Knew he would die, but he still wante dus to know that God forgave us and loved us, and had a message to pass on-and he did this despite what would happen to him.
So he died for us and he died for our sins- for our sins means that he helped us know we are forgiven or can be forgiven if we accept his teachings and his way.

So he couldnt have chosen anyother way-it was speak out and die according to their laws or be quiet and the world would be lost when it came to Gods wisdom.

He didn't get a list of options to choose ;)

if the times would have permitted his actions he would have lived for us and died a natural death for us instead- when he could have just stayed in heaven by his father.

Did Yu tube consider what is written in Heb 10:5-9? See, since this was written IN THE VOLUME OF THE BOOK,,,(Prophisy) He was not given a choice. See, His Fathers WILL, was HIS command.,,,,,,,Now Crusifiction was for a CURSED man. For it is written, CURSED IS ANY MAN HANGED ON A TREE,,,,His goal was simply to be obedient, even to DEATH, cause He KNEW his reward at his resurrection. No VIDEO can show His true agony,,,never!

The people wanted Him crucified. The Jews shouted out for Him to be crucified. I'm half Jewish, I'm not trying to say anything offensive. The apostles were mostly Jews. It also makes you realize that pain here will be worth eternity with the Father who Jesus points to. God Bless!

He tried! Jesus was crying like crazy actually SWEATING BLOOD not wanting to be crucified! Very few Christians want to admit the sadomasochistic aspect of God the Father's pleasure to have his only Son Jesus delivered to be crucified "before the foundation of the Earth"...

Hebrews 5:7-8 (NIV) During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered

So you see Jesus was really scared to die. Good thing that Saint Paul came along later on and finished whatever pain Jesus still had to suffer in his flesh...

Colossians 1:24 (NIV) Now I rejoice in what was suffered for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.

And that is why God rewarded Saint Paul with the "STIGMATTA". He was the first Christian to get it.

Galatians 6:17 (NIV) Finally, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus.

i just don't get how people can believe in a god that was once pleased with animal blood sacrifices and then needed Jesus blood to wash sins.....its just so dumb! A perfect god would not need or be into blood for anything but life!

Did you know that all the slashes upon his back are the same number of deseases we die from.I think it shows how his suffering for us and how he endured the pain for us is an major indicator of what he will still do for us.Beyond what anyone could ever bear.So it makes the burdens we feel more able to be endured.I cant even imagine, but I know for my children I would want to do the same.He just calls us to pray, and endure the small amount of pain then we will be with him for eternity.Just amazing to me.Thank you Jesus for all you have done

God decreed Jesus' manner of death - that He would hang from a tree - i.e. wooden cross

Gal 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed [is] every one that hangeth on a tree:

Jhn 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: (hung on a cross)
