Romans 10:17 says "Faith comes from hearing and by hearing the word of God"
--Therefore God's word is powerful! It reaches the hearts of sinners, so they are effective! When anyone reads scripture the power of God is at hand. Conviction comes-- and even if someone throws it away, they STILL HEARD God's word! That is what is important.....I want to pass out gospel tracts on Halloween, with some candy to the kids who come by....
Think about it this way-- I like to leave gospel tracts in waiting rooms- because they can either pick up a worldly magazine or see a gospel tract and decide to read that. Which would you rather see someone read? Of course sharing the gospel person to person is what we need to be doing- but we can also give them these tracts! God's word is GOD'S WORD and it needs to be heard everywhere! God is the one who is going to do the softening of the heart...the opening of the eyes...and He does that through the hearing of His word.

I think they are pretty much a waste of paper. Most of the tracts are anyway. I don't know anyone that doesn't believe in Christ that gets anything other than a laugh from the tracts with the demons dancing at a party with pitchforks and pointy tails. I think it's just one of the things that pushes alot of people away. I do think that some tracts are helpful though. Especially the ones that are directly from a local church and are nice and to the point, inviting (not pointing a finger but opening the door to a new option) and has contact information.

The Christian tracts are effective when the person reading them have an open receptive heart and the Holy Spirit is actively seeking them to be redeemed for God.

I think It depends on the type of tracts you use.
If they say "Turn or Burn"
These are not only ineffective but will cut off their spiritual ear from hearing the gospel. Just like Peter cut of the roman soldier's ear when they come for Jesus In the garden. Peter cut off the guards ear with a Sword.
The word of God Is our Sword.
We can take that same Sword(word of God) and cut off their spiritual ear.
We need to do what Jesus did,He used the law as a mirror to show people they were In direct violation of a Holy God.

I think, as was largely true in my case, that people who are Sitting on the Fence or who believe but never get around to converting, are reminded by these tracts. BTW: It took quite a lot of them for me. I always read them. One day, it actually "took" and I do think the tracts were a part of that.

worthless most people look at them then place them in the can. Jesus Christ is the only effective means to open someones eyes. some tracts come from dead people.

The Holy Spirit is the only thing that can change a person. Sometimes a tract is the at the right place and right time for a person to be receptive to the Spirit.

Romans 10:17 " So then faith cometh by hearing, hearing by the word of God ". A Gospel tract is not afraid to witness to any body who reads it. The seed must be sown first.

Being a friend when there is a need (everyone needs a friend) is much more effective. A blanket for a Katrina victim is more effective than a piece of paper. Service is the answer.
