If there was a deity, would have to say I agree. Because at least we (atheists) were not busy making assumptions about what religion it would think is right or what it would think in general.

Hmmm. Interesting question, but it sounds to me like the Goncourts painting god in their own image, i.e. as a humorously sceptical Parisian intellectual.
The god we know of the Bible, if he truly exists, is going to kick my butt when I die for not believing in him, and will kiss the hands of every dork who ever took holy communion. However, he has been so lazy about showing himself for the past two or three thousand years that I wouldn't have any respect for him anyway.

"Man is a marvelous curiosity ... he thinks he is the Creator's pet ... he even believes the Creator loves him; has a passion for him; sits up nights to admire him; yes and watch over him and keep him out of trouble. He prays to him and thinks He listens. Isn't it a quaint idea." - Mark Twain, Letters from the Earth

I believe the question in essence isn't sensible simply because i believe their is a god, and speaking hypothetically if there is a god, there is a certain standard he wants us as "inferior" beings to obey. Dogs are inferior to us and dont we want them to pee outside and sit when we say. the truth is a religion is a way of life set up for us by this "superior" being as the atheists would call him. religion is a way to obey god and to serve and worship him. Don't people thank someone who has given them a Christmas present. What about thanking god for the Life he has given us. so plainly if god has made and given us life dont you think a religion, or way of life, would be of the utmost importance, seeing as life needs a way itself. so to answer i dont believe one should be atheist to begin with because the very trhing they are trusting in, science, is nothing more than hypothesis' made by man, who was made by god.

I agree, it isn't "technically" breaking any of the ten commandments, but atheists do deny the existence of God, and that is a big no no in Christianity.

Agree God is not religious,Jesus came against religious acts,he only wants us as his creation. He desires real people coming to him on their own terms, not just his,he knows our frame,he is not afraid of real people.Religion teaches in order to reach God you have to do this and be that.He just wants us as we are.Shalom

No, atheism is not an insult, He would just think of them as very stupid people because it's almost like atheists are trying to compete against God... and they dont' know... well, anything compared to Him.
