Nothing will happen to the pot, a few sparks while in the Micro way but the pot will not break.
Nothing will happen to the Micro wave.
Nothing will happen to you if you eat the food from the pot.
Microwaves cause liquid molicules in food to move quickly causing friction which in turn causes heat. The problem when you place a metal pot in the Microwave is the "microwaves can not penitrate to solid metal so you food will not get hot, not as quickly as least. You can find Microwave made today with metal shelves in them.

Why shouldn't you put a metal pot in the microwave?
The food will not heat up. That's because the microwaves can't penetrate metal.
Depending upon how much metal you may get some arcing, but nothing will explode.
People here are letting their imaginations run wild... lol.
Microwaves only excite oil and water molecules. The metal pot won't even be effected by the microwaves.

Microwave produces electromagnetic waves (radiation) in order to heat food up. It is tuned to the same as the resonant frequency of water. Metal and high frequency waves do not mix because the metal will just reflect off it, damaging the machine. Nothing will happen to the pot, just have a broken microwave, potential risk of radiation may come out. The chances are the microwave will collapse before the food is cooked, if it does, the food is normal.

lol its fine. Just get a new one unless you like burnt microwave smell 24/7. I nuked metal dozens of times. Not to the extent of 4 mintues, because I stand by the microwave everytime I warm it up, and am there in time before a total mass breakldown, but yeah, many times in faact I put metal objects in there with out realizing. I put gold in there too. Yes, gold. Apperantly some of our plates have thin, TINY, discrete line of gold that I couldnt see. One day I popped it in and stood by the microwave, but blue light started to brew in the microwave and I heard a zapping sound. Ding!ding!ding! you guessed it-elecectricity! But I just belted it open and hit behing the island counter in the kitchen for a total of 5.6 mintues and finally I just put the food on a diffrent plate. Lesson learned-not metal or gold in the microwave. We still use it. For a total of 5 years now.

First the waves from the microwave would hit the pot conducting heat and it starts from the inside so the pot gets burns and holes and they both blow up. If you ate food that was in the pot you would most likely get an electric shock or you might get sick but it depends.

The pot would explode in the microwave because of the radiation that heats the content in the microwave. Metal cannot handle such concentrated amounts of the radiation, and could melt or explode, depending on the intensity of the heat.

You wouldn't even get a chance to eat it! The pot will get all electricy and stuff, then it will look like a mini lighting storm inside the microwave. You might even die. And your house will smell pretty bad! (I stuck a metal spoon in, that's how I know.)

It will spark and smell horrible and toxic, and potentially it will catch on fire (It won't explode). I would not eat the food out of it, and the fuse on the 'wave should pop when this happens to save your house from burning down. But the waves reflect back into the machine and it will definitely ruin it. Maybe not if it was just for a few seconds, but hard to say.

that is not a good idea...
the pot will melt and will not be usable
the microwave will be ruined because of the medal stench (like ew!!) and because when ever you use it there would be a medal taste to ur food (like ew...AGAIN!!)
If you eat the food nothing will happen unless the pot cautions says that it is toxic
for your safety, just dont do it at all!!! i warned you...

Because of the "micro"-waves, they interfere with metal. You'll have a fireworks display, for sure!!
The food would probably be burnt, if you leave the pot in long enough. So if you like char, go ahead and eat it, but I wouldn't it's probably not good.
