My wisdom tooth on my left side has been trying to come through for years. It's finally made some progress, but it won't stop throbbing! I can hardly talk or eat. I feel like it's poking though to my cheek. Is there any way I can help it along? Is this a sure sign that it will need to be pulled? Can I prevent it from being pulled somehow? What can I do for the throbbing? Any suggestions are greatly aprreciated! Thank you.

Something you can do to help the pain is to do warm salt water rinses. And make sure that you floss back there to make sure there is no food impactation. That will help some of the puffy gums. The really only way to tell if they need pulled out is to go to your dentist and they will have to take some xrays of it to see how it is coming in and how it will affect some of the other teeth. You can also ask for some medication to help with the pain.

Eat a soft diet and take some Advil for the pain.

i think you just need to relax a bit more. my wisdom teeth are coming in too, and it doesnt hurt that much. at home, use some ice to help numb the pain (ice packs).
