Depends on the breed of dog. I know my breed does. Goldens will go through 3 sheds before the get their first adult coats.

Yeah puppies do tend to shed out their puppy coat and grow in an adult coat. There is an all breed book by Jocelyn Cocque and Tara McClosoff... They write about pretty much everything the regular pet owner might need / want to know when they have a new dog. You could also look for the book by Amanda Lick, who writes different books on different breeds.. I don't know what kind of dog you have?? But she writes on several breeds.

The Ima Frute website sells all sorts of natural shampoos and remedies, brushes and other grooming supplies that will help you with a nice coat.

My breed (sheltie) does. I remembered they were shedding all over the floor. I had to vacuum twice a week.
