I'm an athiest. Religion is of much interest to me. But I am a believer, not worshipper of science. I attend an Episcopalian Church often and am well accepted as well as my reasons for attending known. They and the priest jokingly refer to me as "The Pagan." As far as Christian and believers in other religions, I do not hate them. I just can't believe as they do. I cannot accept the contents of any holy books, and I'm speaking of others than just the Bible. Just because a person is an athiest does not make them bad people either. My belief if that if I do wrong, I will be punished here and now or the immediate future. Doing things right also have the same rewards, but more importantly presents opportunity to make something a little better for others and society. If there were a god, my request would be that he or she or they inspire me with a vision and understanding. I am human and have never had god talk to me. With so many religions, so many holy books and so many differences of denominations, how am I to decide the correct path? Nor does god need scare me with hell. My belief being if there is hell, that too is here and now. Want to impress a non believer like me? Do it by example and a degree of understanding. Though an athiest, given example and solid evidence, that is subject to change.

I answered this question to a friend of mine once before because I changed religions about a year ago. I explained to them that I had not ever felt welcome in my old religion (christianity) and I feel as though my new religion (Wicca) is what is meant for me. But I know that a lot of people would see me as someone who wasn't serious in my religion because I am so new to it and because I haven't been in it for a long time. I've been told that I just say I'm a wiccan for attention, which isn't true, but I know that to some people, it would seem that way.

The truth. If you don't like what you see it is your own fault. It is throught honest self examination that we grow into the person we ultimately want to become. Religion can help, but if a faith doesn't require some sacrifice then will it actually help you to change?

Excellent point. It is the judging of others that is the downfall of the church, and our society. It is the judging of others that cause wars and the other atrocities here. we need only to judge ourselves. to answer your question I see a good loving spiritual person. who trys hard to share love and not judge.
