Since then he has acted sort of strange as in talking ALOT .....alot more than he ever use to. Someone had told me they thought there was something that can make a person act that way after having a blood transfusion but they didnt know what it was called...anyway just need any info if anyone has any idea on this type of stuff.... i would really appreciate it.

i should also mention my father has had several strokes in the past...we actually thought he could have had one while in the hospital or right after...but the docs had acted like he was fine.

I have never heard of talking too much after a blood transfusion being a side effect. He could have felt better and started talking more. He could have been acting strangely from the medications he received. Side effects from blood transfusions are usually a fever, making an antibody to different antigens present in blood, or hemolyisis. An adverse effect will be seen up to 48 hrs after, or in the case of developing antibodies, weeks later.

everyone reacts differently to blood transfusions. My father had some when in his 70's. Best bet is to ask the doctor caring for the patient that got the transfusion.

I wouldn't think anything is wrong. He probably has just been feeling better and needed the transfusion a long time ago. I know when I had mine last year I felt a whole lot better after it.
