It didn't pass because enough of our senators are getting the message that this bill stinks and voted against it. It was 52 to 44. Then Harry Reid said they would come up with a compromise bill this afternoon. I didn't get to watch all day so I don't know if they brought one up or not. It does seem to be the case that they tried to as C-Span had a message on the screen that said the senate failed to move the Children of Illegal Immigrants Bill S. 2205 forward.

This means we need to call our senators yet again tomorrow and tell them to vote NO on any compromise on the Children of Illegal Immigrants Bill S. 2205 (which is the same thing as the DREAM Act). We don't even know what the compromise is and apparently they don't want to give us the time to find out. This link will take you to all of the senators' Washington phone numbers. It will also take you to their contact form called "webform" which is their individual websites. On their websites are other phone numbers for them at state locations and these offices are happy to take messages for the senators and can get them delivered. I say this because the Washingon phones were all tied up today when I called.

In addition to that you can use this same website to send a written message to the senator.

I hope this helps.

To answer your questions the proponents of this bill want to give as many illegals aliens amnesty as soon as possible so they will have the right to vote and will vote for Democrats. They also want cheap labor to make lobbyists for big business happy. And they don't care one hoot for the rights of the citizens of the US.

Contacting your House & Senate members does help, yes - the continuing outcry against Amnesty is the only reason this latest attempt was defeated.

Politicians may work for special interests, but they do have to pass that little formality of re-election, and they get nervous when thier offices are flooded with calls and faxes expressing outrage over a forthcoming piece of legislation.

Disingenuious politicians tried to sneak this through even though this nearly idenical bill failed last year due to tremendous public outcry. We said No Amnesty!

Why do they do things that they know the American people are against? Cause they only work in their own best interests, they are pandering to a special interest group.

This bill will resurect again. I just hope enough of us are watching so that it gets defeated. Again.

Every one of the bums in Washington should be thrown out and publiclly spanked for doing things like this.

Because they can't seem to get it through their thick skulls that the American People don't want this or any bill like it. We want our country back and these criminals deported. This is the third time, myself and other outraged patriots have phoned, emailed and faxed en mass to defeat this ridiculous bill. We are committed to defeating this no matter how many times they try to sneak it in with other bills etc. We are resolved in our commitment to end this invasion of our country. An overwhelming majority of Americans want our borders secure and illegal aliens deported. We don't want our tax dollars thrown away to support criminals who don't even respect the American people, our country or our flag!

No way to make or get them to kill the bill. Ted Kennedy has been trying to push that bill for the last 10 years. We just won't let it pass, thank God.

Congress may want to pass it -- they often do things that many Americans don't want to do -- that's not uncommon.

If enough members of each house pass it -- and Bush signs it -- then it becomes law.

"Dirty" Harry Reid tried to pull one of his sneak attacks on US citizens, hoping to catch his fellow senators off guard. Good thing we were ready for him once again. Dream Act.......keep dreaming.
