the old standard answers should not be given. saying you want to help people or bad guys does not come across as a original thought.give them a straight original answer.when asked i told them i wanted to get into law enforcemnt and learn as much as i could.be clean cut and clean shaven.you want to impress the oral board.do not wear jeans. slacks and a sport coat would look good. have a good haircut.i have no idea what kind of situation questions they will ask you. if you do not know the answer then tell them. do not make the mistake of givng a bad answer.ask officers in the agency you are applying for what they were ask and went thru.when they are thru asking questions and say you can leave, shake their hands and thank them for the interview.the will try to get you rattled.it is a normal response. too many people try to answer too quickly. think about for a minute. some question will require a very fast answer.speaking to veteran officer will help you with this question.id for some reason they tell you that you failed the interview thank them anyway. then ask them where you need to improve.that will greatly help you if you apply again.i am a 5th generation retired officer.you want to leave the interview making them fill like they are really smart and know their stuff, even if they sound like idiots.now days there are very few qualified applicants and your chance will be higher for being hired.act as what you would want someone to act before you.
is this your first family time in law enforcement?it is not anything like it looks from the outside.it is a very hard jon with very few if any rewards.the academy is very hard. tons of stuff will be thrown at you in a very short time period.you will have required classes every year.some of the training is extremely hard so you will have to study very hard. never be embarassed to ask a question. asking lots of question will help you remember things.attend classes every day or you will get behind. you will never catch up because of the speed of things.you will just have to dedicate yourself for the time of the academy.i wish you the best and a safe career.

Just be yourself and be honest. Don't try to be something you are not. The interviewer would see through that straight away.Think why you want to be a police officer and what you hope to acheive in your career. Make a list of your personal qualities and how they would be of assistance in your career. Good luck! We all need good cops!

Just be honest, chances are when a superior asks you a question, they already know the answer. They're going to ask you stuff like if you pulled over your mom for speeding would you let her go. Just be honest, you wouldn't cite your mom and you know it, they know it, everyone knows it. The purpose of the interview is to see how you hold up under pressure when you don't know what to expect and don't know all the answers. It's a composure thing, to prove you understand discretion and are capable of using it.

Don't lie about ANYTHING. They will find out and disqualify you. If you admit to everything, you can always explain. They may try and set you up by asking you things they think you may lie about, yet they already know about, to see if you lie. Don't fall for it!
Show up on time, dressed in business attire. And bring a pen.

One piece of advice. If they ask you if criminals scare you, say yes! I said no. They explained that I should fear them, they are dangerous! I didn't get any further in my career with the police! You could explain a bit more than I did by quoting what they told me!

Don't tell the truth when they ask why you chose being a cop and you really believed you could drive fast cars all day.
