Pretty much has changed the face of photography. I use to have a darkroom in my house, would develope and print and I learned all the tricks to create what sometimes took hours, can now be done in minutes on a computer. No film, no negitives.
Saddly, I just learned the hard way that not having negatives can hurt. I did not back up several hunderd photos and my system crashed and I lost them all. On the other hand that was my fault. I love the digital darkroom. You get to leave the lights on.

I think computers have totally advance photography however has made the use of film slowly obsolete. Soon many will only know film existed in art books, like the glass plates used for photography. Film will only be used in an artistic sense to achieve that certain look or aesthetic quality. Sad but it will eventually happen, you don't find many place where you can develop film yourself, and it gets more and more expensive to develop film itself, not to mention the quality probably will suck unless you take it to like a actual camera store to get it developed and even then your praying for the best. The convenience that computers have brought to photography in general, has made it possible for everyone to take pictures and to see them before they get printed and to even allows someone to print the ones they want printed. Overall it is a major impact, but it dispels alot about what photography is also about.
