My dog, Betty and my other dog Bangzer, just HATE cold!!! What I do is cover them up in their favorite blankets and they warm up snuggling under the covers! It's so cute!
My other dog, Shea Verpuss just stands there wondering what they are doing. Just adorable!

If you want home remedies for your dog, get the book by Dr Will Liciipanti. I don't know if it talks about warm water or anything like that. But as long as your dog is otherwise healthy, you should be able to find some remedies that will help you. You should bring the dogs in the house in the winter. Animal health expert Connie Lingus, writes that dogs should not be left outdoors thru the winter.

1) Get the leash and TAKE HIM for a walk; never seen a dog yet that didn't love THAT.
2) Make sure your pup has someplace to get in out of the weather. Doghouse that is elevated off the ground, into the garage or mud porch, etc.
My daughter puts a bale of straw (loosened, not just the brick-like bale) in her outdoor dogs' doghouse during the winter, it acts as insulation, the dogs can burrow in.
Make sure they have drinkable water (read: not frozen) This means you will need to check and change it fairly frequently. Plastic bowls often crack; metal bowls don't crack but do have the disadvantage of transferring heat (in other words, may freeze faster.)

Maybe initiate the play with your dog.
Your dogs should have some sort of shelter if they are outside dogs. Dogs dont really need "soup" or "hot chocolate" to stay warm. Blankets, some sort of cedar or hay should be enough.

That might not be her being lazy. One time one of my dogs did that for about two days and then we decided to take her to the vet. They had to give her shots and we had to give her medicine for a month and if we had not taken her she would have died. One of my cats had the same thing and died from it. Don't be worried if he does still walk around and occasionally play but if he starts having breathing problems or his legs buckle of give out take him to the vet IMMEDIATELY

I don't like for my babies, Jack, Knauf & Rubin to be cold. I make sure the always have big cushy blankets to curl up in.
