actually the FBI do investigate if the government asks them too.. and in this case they were asked to look into it as there are so many fires now raging in California,, they will look for the original contact spot,, take samples to determine if an excellerant was used or not ,, did the person leave the lighter behind (dummy)..stuff like that

VERY CAREFULLY.
YOU FIRST START WITH WHERE THE FIRE WAS FIRST SEEN BY A TOWER OPERATOR.
THIS IS YOUR BEGINNING SECTOR.
SOMETIMES YOU WILL FIND IT REALLY EASY. EASY IS A CAMP FIRE THAT WAS NOT PROPERLY PUT OUT AND THUS STARTED THE FIRE.

OTHER TIMES HARD TO SEARCH AREA AND FIND DIRECT CAUSE. COULD BE A MATCH. USUALLY IF LUCKY THE WIND BLOWS ONE WAY AND YOU CAN FIND EVIDENCE THAT THIS AREA WAS NOT CHARRED AND THIS IS. YOU WORK ALONG THE UNCHARRED AREA AND WILL FIND EVIDENCE OF WHERE AND HOW A FIRE STARTED. SOMETIMES SEARCH FOR A WEEK LOOKING.
SOMETIME A BOLT OF LIGHTENING AND DRY AREA WILL SPARK A FIRE.?
