She used to go in it when it rained, but for the past couple of days, she has just stood out in the pouring rain. I hate for people driving by to think that I mistreat her, but living so close to the road we have no chance but to keep our animals tied up.
Anyone help me here??

I know that's what I think when I see a dog tied up outside, especially in the rain and cold. You really should consider bringing her inside.

A lot of people, when they see a dog tied outside, think that the animal is being abused. I know that isn't the case, because I've known a few people who had dogs that lived outside, and the dogs were very well adjusted. We actually found that they liked it better outside than inside anyway. But, they *did* bring their dogs inside when the weather was bad. They either put them in the garage or in the basement. You should really try doing this if you don't want your dog in house all the time.
Personally, I think the dog is depressed. It seems to be acting "blankly". Like it doesn't care much about anything. I'd try spending more time with it.

She is probably contemplating running away. Dogs are pack animals and shouldn't be left tied in the yard. Actually it's illegal in many places to leave your dog tied out all the time. Tying and leaving dogs outside increases the likelihood that they will become anxious and aggressive. This is why the Mailman has such a hard time.

as long as she has some nice warm dry shelter to get to, i wouldnt worry. maybe she likes it? maybe shes depressed, make sure you give your outside boxer pup her share of attention and play time(not saying you dont).

when i was a kid my parents had a dog who would bury himself in the snow.. i figured it would be a little cold but if we brought him in he would just sit at the door and cry till he could go do it again.

dogs are funny.

A guy in town, Neil Inlick, got fined for this. It must have been very upsetting for him. It was in the paper and everything.
