how can I find a doctor that will listen to me?
my doctor told me that surgery (for my TMJ) is the only thing that will actually "fix" it, but that he wants me to try other things to "make it better" first! I'm in so much pain, I just want to find a doctor that will listen to me and perform the surgery! help!

There are times when you need to listen to the doctor, but then there are times when the doctor should listen to *you*... I feel like the latter time has come.
I guess I am tired of living in constant pain, trying to treat the *symptoms* rather than (simply) fixing the cause.

Geta second,third or even a fourth opinion what ever it takes

If you have to ask 100 doctors before you'll find one that will do the surgery, maybe that should tell you that you really shouldn't be getting the surgery. Why you feel you know whats best for your health better than your doctor does?

Because with EVERY surgery there is risk. That risk can include even DEATH. Whenever you are under anesthesia you can have serious complications. We always try everything we can to help the problem before surgery. If it were as simple as perform the surgery and voila you're fixed, then it would be a no brainer.

Go to another doctor, get a second opinion. however, you should listen to the doctor, he probably knows what he is talking about, recovering from surgery is not easy... God bless****

Maybe you should get a second opinion but also consider LISTENING to your doctor.
