My son is going to be Dale Earnhart Jr. for Halloween.
We already went trick-or-treating this summer at a campground for their Halloween themed weekend, and he got razzed by some of the adults.

I know nothing about racing. Do you have any good comebacks that would be fitting for this in case it happens next week?

I don't want him to be bratty or snotty, just have some good stats or facts about Dale. He's 7 years old.
Thanks in advance.
(If you're not a Dale fan, I don't really care. Save your breath.)

Wow Lynn, you must be brilliant! Thanks for answering my question!!
I don't know much about construction, yet somehow my POOR judgement let him be a construction worker a few years ago. My daughter is going to be a nice witch this year, but I don't know any spells. Are you kidding me with that comment?!?

I don't need him to stoop to their level, just kindly spit out a fact like "He won 7 races last year" so he doesn't look like a deer in headlights. I did speak for him, I put my arm around him and said "We LIKE Dale.", but he should learn to stick up for himself without my help.

Seriously. If your not going to help - don't bother answering. Don't people know that by now on this site??

24DupontWatcher - Please be careful how you quote me. I did NOT say "if your not a Jr fan, dont respond". I said "If you're not a Jr fan, I don't care - save your breath."
This statement did NOT mean "please do not give me advice", it meant "If you are going to mock Dale in your answer - just to be a jerk, you're not hurting my feelings, so don't bother." I now know how people like to mock him to fans, which I'm not.

Oooo - throwing beer bottles. Tempting idea. I'll try to control myself!

JIM YOU"RE MY HERO!!!!!!

I'm sorry you're getting stupid and rude replies, you came on here with a sincere questions and you get dumbass replies.

But as JimM pointed out Jr is a 2 time back to back Busch Series Champion (only 6 drivers can boast that) with 17 Nextel Cup wins and the winner of the 2004 Daytona 500. He is the most popular and favored driver. (Sorry guys just stating facts, just cuz you don't like him doesn't make this statement untrue) He also became the first rookie to win the All-Star exhibition race. He's won the Talladega race 5 times and he's been in 7 music videos.
He's also a very likable guy and hardly anyone has issues with him on or off the track.

Good Luck and tell your little guy to have fun!!!

You stated that "if your not a Jr fan, dont respond" Well, looks like you have the same attitude as those other idiots that disrespected your son. Its comments and stupidity like those that gets the same response. Im a Gordon fan and I consider myself a well respected one. What happened to your son was very cruel and If I was there, it would have gotten squashed immediatly with an apology by those a$$holes. I envy Jr fans. The true ones that till this day with 7 DNFs, Team change, and media pressure, still stick by thier drivers side. Your son with the Jr outfit stuck by his side. I know many #8 or now #88 fans. One being my closest to my heart. Tell your son that if Jr is his favorite driver, ignore others, thier inputs dont matter. Jr did the same and now he will race with the best to include engines that dont quit.

my husband is 43 yrs old and loves dale jr. theres nothing wrong with it. If your son wants to be Dale jr. go for it, who care what other people think. If I was young again I would dress up as jr. if they make fun of him, they just aren't nascar fans. It's halloween it shouldn't matter who you dress up at.
If jr. saw him he would fell good about it cuz a kid likes him. It doesn't matter of the age. I'm 47 and I would dress up at jr.

That is so sad that adults would stoop so low to insult a 7 year old child on their Halloween costume!!! What is this world coming to??? Really makes you wonder who the "child" really is in that situation.

Jr is one of my favorite drivers and I'm happy to hear that your son admires him too!! I would do a little research on some of his stats to help him zing those so called "Adults" without being disrespectful. Good Luck, I hope he has fun!!!

You got some really good answers. Just wanted to say that I am apalled at the fact that people would be rude to your child for dressing like Jr. That is beyond my imagination. Also wanted to say that you had a brilliant comment to Lynn's stupid reply!! LOL! I am still laughing over it.

It's too bad that adults would do that to a child. Anyway, if I were him I'd respond by saying...

"I'm real proud of my mom's (your vehicle). We been runnin around all day tryin to get as much candy as we could. I really think we have a top 5 team today, but we'll see. I'm just so proud of my whole team. I hope all my fans are having as much fun as I am!"

Tell him to answer any negative crap from adults who should know better than to harass a 7yearold with, "Jr is the man!!" what else is there? Dale Jr is a man his dad would be proud of on and off the track, who cares what mean people have to say.

Jilly, Maybe ask your son,who I could imagine is really cute in his costume,to ask the razzlers, where they upset, when Jr. lost his father? I was !! And I was nowhere even close,to being a Dale Earnhardt fan. [At the time we lost him] but,I am now.
Because it was at that moment,I realized, just how much he meant to the sport,as does Dale Jr. now !!!The little guy is gonna have to get used to defending his favorite driver now,ok . Any real race fan is going to love the debate.Enjoy your night out,and let him stand his ground. It's a nascar thing,it's ok hahaha HAVE FUN !!!!

Adults should know better and you as the parent should have handled that one privately...I digress...should this happen again keep in mind Jr sells 70% of everything nascar, he is the most popular driver out there...even other drivers like him
