From what I have read it's more like they the give credit for the economic growth to the illegals. Of course if the truth be known the only ones what really benefits is the business's that hire cheap labor, while we the middle class tax payer pick up the tap for their social services and educating their children. If we have a economic down turn, especially in the building trades, where or what will the illegals go for work

We must be Oscar-worthy actors.
Of course not ALL the problems of any sort in any country can be blamed on a single cause. But the percentage isn't the point. Why should even one citizen child be denied the education his/her parents paid for while favors are given to Samoans, Greeks, Germans, Mongols, or any non-citizens?
And, just as bad, why should a clearly intended Amendment to a trusted, powerful Constitution be twisted to grant citizenship in blatant contradiction to that intent?
The 14th Amendment was re-worded several times for ONE reason: Senators would NOT accept it if it granted citizenship to children born on US soil to aliens. And now the court ignores the intent of those elected by the will of citizens and grants exactly what we guarded carefully against.
Don't forget: this amendment came on the heels of the greatest anti-racist war in the history of the world. Over 600,000 troops died to end the "peculiar institution" of slavery as it was so obviously inhuman.

Because some of those problems are because of illegal immigration, while others are merely exacerbated by it (and still others even ameliorated by the boost in population), so, on balance, the problems caused are easy to see and alarming, while the benefits are not. That leads to the generalization.

There is way more going on with the illegal situation than just billions of dollars. We also have lost jobs, hospitals closing due to non-paying immigrants. 500,000 illegals in prison for violent crimes and on and on. No one says it is mostly economic, but we do have the right to say where our tax money goes.

I do not know about ALL but there are certainly some problems that come from illegal immigration.
The cost to taxpayers for the medical treatments they do not pay for and the huge cost of bilingual education numbers in the tens of billions for each state in the union. When you also consider the fact that somewhere around a third of the people in prison are illegals you can see how this gets expensive.

While they clearly are not reasponsible for every single problem, the list of economic problems that do occur because of them is truely astounding.
Example (mind you this is only the city of Los Angeles)
LA County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich has announced that a new report shows illegal aliens and their families in Los Angeles County collected over $35 million in welfare and food stamp allocations in July.
In the report, illegals are said to have collected nearly $20 million in welfare assistance for July 2007 and an additional $15 million in monthly food stamp allocations for an estimated annual cost of $440 million.
“Illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact on Los Angeles County taxpayers,”said Antonovich. “In addition to $220 million for public safety and $400 million for healthcare, the $440 million in welfare allocations bring the total cost to County taxpayers that exceeds $1 billion a year -- this does not include the skyrocketing cost of education.”
ONE BILLION! in just one city......that is a big, huge, massive, problem don't you think?

In a way, a lot are. We've become dependant on the cheap work that illegal immigrants provide, and as we tighten up on it, it eliminates them, screwing up many a businesses bottom line. I'm sorry to sound so hardline, but if you want to immigrate, do it legally. My parents did it, my parents friends did it, and really, it's only fair that they do it to.
