its where the gas enters the intake manifold from and where it starts to mix with the air.and its all controlled by how much pressure you put on the gas pedal that makes the butterflys open so that the gas and air can flow into the intake manifold.

It's basically an adjustable air restrictor. The air/fuel ratio needs to be kept between a set range to avoid damaging the engine, while keeping it running. when the engine is idling, it doesn't use much fuel, and therefore needs little air. If it could gulp air as fast as it wants, regardless of how hard the engine is working (like a diesel engine), it would run too lean (not enough fuel) and would probably burn out a piston. To fix this, the throttle body restricts the air the engine can pull in. And when you want to go faster, it opens to allow more air, while the injectors also supply more fuel (still keeping within the same ratio range.)

throttle body is a air control when you hit your gas pedal the trottle opens up and lets air in your intake and when you do so there is a tps that measures your throttle postion send that to your computer and uses that to control your idal air control

it controlls the amount of air that enters the engine. it has a butterfuly valve to do this.
