Can I just add cherry pie filling to the top of any cheesecake recipe? Would I do this right before I serve it? Or after it comes out of the oven?

put the cherries on the crust then your filling it can be spooned after cooking also.

After it cools just spread the cherry pie filling on top like icing and then refridgerate till slicing and serving.

You'd do better to bake a plain cheesecake and top each slice w/ the cherry pie filling.
