Last year at this time I was 200 pounds and cholesterol was 222. I am now 125 pounds. I eat very healthy, low fat, rarely eat more than 40 grams a fat per day, I do at least 30 minutes or more of cardio everyday, I eat alot of soluble fiber foods daily, apples, grapes, oatmeal, wholegrains ect. I never eat fast food or fried food. Never eat chips or other salty snacks. always eat fat free dairy like yogurt, frozen yogurt, skim milk. I only drink water, lots of it, I eat fat free candy like gummi candies and lollipops a few times a week. I went for cholesterol test yesterday and it was 246! I fasted for 15 hours! How is this possible? Can eatign fat free candies be causing this?

It could be heredity??? or did you have red meat, eggs, cheese, or cheesy foods etc before you started to fast, or is that your life diet? do you eat those things.???

I'd opt for the heredity factor. Chicken, no skin or breading broiled is great, tuna, or fish, or days just without meat is good, veggies, etc.

health.com, webmd.com, medicine net.com may be of help to you. ADDITIION: Also, you did not mention your HDL or LDL, sometimes they are in the range that they off set your total cholesterol number. Have you spoke with your doctor regarding this? and your triglycerides also?
Personally, I would have a 'total' follow-up blood work, hormones, thyroid, sugar, and another cholesterol in 3 months. (I'm in the same situation as you are) mine is heredity. My food intake is excellent, but still my numbers are high. keep good track of it - also liver enzymes and muscles enzymes. too.

good luck

Are you on any hormone medication like birth control or thyroid medicine? These medications can cause your cholesterol to go up. Or if you have a thyroid problem that you don't know about, your cholesterol will go up. When I found out that I had hypothyroid, my cholesterol was at a 268. I started on thyroid medication and my cholesterol went down, but I still have a hard time getting it below 230. When I was younger and took birth control for a couple of years, it made my cholesterol go up almost 30 points from 190 to 217.
