Imagine walking through a meadow in a forest with Gordon B Hinckle on a warm sunny day. You notice a bear coming toward you but still a ways away on the edge of the forest. The bear makes a definitive motion with its paw as if signaling you to follow it. The bear turns around, moves a few steps into the forest and then turns back and repeats the motion. You feel a burning in your bosom and long to experience the adventure that awaits you. However, Mr. Hinckle grabs your arm and says, "Wait, I don't think we should go." What do you do?

Would you decide to follow the bear or not?

Explain your reasoning.

I would have already run the other way along time ago , I would go get a fireman to put out the fire (only they can put out forest fires, saying the bear was smokey the bear) and I would run from the prophet, jesus is my guide, not a prohet. The burning in my bossom is just a fake feeling, I learned that a long time ago. I asked the mormon God about who should be my soulmate and all the men I asked him about, I got a burning for them, so I knew that was wrong, mormons are not Polyandry.

I would trust Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley's judgment, as he has at least as much knowledge about bear behavior as I have, and probably more, plus his personality is almost identical to my grandfather's (now deceased). I don't think it's a good idea to be following a wild bear anywhere, even if it is an "adventure." What do you think the best thing would be that the bear could possibly be leading you to experience? A raw salmon dinner? Not in the mood for sushi, thanks.

Is a bear Catholic? I would follow the prophet in this case. If instead he said follow the bear, I would question how much he knew about walking in the woods and bears.

Isolde WTF do you mean is bear catholic ! cause you WORMAN'S and catholic's a the same S#@! but different colour.
And answer to your question : I will reply to Hinckle that we all have to choose our own paths, to you it was being a honest man and a follower of your religion. To me it's adventure and endless search for real divine not what i feel or think and say its the divine. I use science continously to search for answers, it may be difficult to come up with an absolute answer but I will keep working on it.
And to say religion has come up with absolute answer is a very shaky claim. And to be fair " Mr. Hinckle " Science has done more in few thousand years, than religion. So good bye.

The only adventure I can see here is a Hunting Trip with President Hinckley.

RIGHT ON

Bear Steaks are YUM YUM!!! and you get a nice rug.

I wouldnt follow the bear unless I had my .338 Lapua Magnum handy.

The only warm and fuzzy feeling I get is from the softly groomed fur of my new bear skin rug.

A very....interesting question.

I would follow Pres. Hinckley's advice and not follow the bear. First, because I'd much rather be in his company than in the bear's. Second, Pres. Hinckley is much more in tune with the Spirit than I am and likely would understand more about the situation than I would. And third, because if a bear did that, it would just be creepy and weird.

Since I have the Holy spirit with me always, even right now I would not follow a bear into the woods duh. As far as following the mormon fellow no that would ultimately be a worse choice.
I would part ways of both but plead with the mormon man to go the way I am and try and turn him from the road he's on which will lead to destruction. http://www.newasiarecords.com/gospel.html

If President Hinckley said not to, then I would not. He is God's representative here on the Earth, and if he says no, it is like God saying no. God would not let him walk into a dangerous situation, so obviously following the bear would be a dangerous situation. That would mean that the bear was from Satan.

Truth cannot contradict itself. So your off the wall hypothetical situation couldn't happen. Once you know what it feel like to have the spirit burn with in you of the truth of something, it is easily distinguishable from anything else. God will never again let His church be led astray, so I would follow His prophet. And I do this knowing what I am doing, not blindly.

I would go with Hinckley. I think he is a funny guy and a bear waving at me to follow would make me want to run in the opposite direction!
