Now you know how guys feel all the time! If he turns you down all that means is you don't have a date which is what you have now. Logically, you have everything to gain and nothing to loose by asking him out, therefore you should.

dont be scared. this is weird because most guys ask out girls not girls ask guys. but if he asked you for your number i think you have a really good chance with Alex =)
