I guess it depends on the prescription and the dog, but my vet recommends once a week. Also make sure to let the shampoo soak into your dog for about 10 mins. before rinsing.

As a groomer I used to get dogs that needed a special shampoo & it was applied once a week.

What is the special shampoo & how did the Vet tell you use it? What kind of problem does your dog have to need a special prescription shampoo? Mites/mange? Dry skin? Hot spots?

You need to provide more details in order to get a quality answer.

Some are once a week, some are once a day, some are biweekly.
Did the vet not tell you when he/she gave it to you? Call them back up.
Noone on here knows what skin problem your dog is suffereing from, or what kind of shampoo you have been given. Your vet is the best one to ask.
