I have to do a health project tommorrow. I am suppose to take an orignal recipe and change it to make it healthier. Well, I'm doing a dessert called choco-hoto-pots and I have the original recipe:
butter, for ramekins
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup unsalted butter
2 large eggs
3/4 cup superfine sugar
3 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
And here are the directions:
Place a baking sheet in an preheated oven 400° Butter four 2/3-cup ramekins and set aside.
Using a microwave or double boiler, melt together the semisweet chocolate and the butter, set aside to cool.
In a bowl combine eggs, sugar and flour Add cooled chocolate mixture and mix well.
Fold in white chips.
Divide mixture evenly among ramekins and place on baking sheet.
Bake until tops are shiny and cracked and chocolate beneath is hot and gooey about 20 minutes.
Serve on plates this is very hot.
What can I do to make this recipe more healthy .

What you need to do is think of the healthier ingredients, to replace the ones in your recipe, I thought of a healthier replacement for each of them. I think you can to.
Try using carob , I can't believe it's not butter egg substitute equal (you will need less of that) whole wheat flour and Yogurt chips

Well for starters you can use a little more than a 1/4 cup for the sugar, UMM for the flour you can use whole wheat, you can use flour or non-stick spray for the ramikins instead of butter. And last you can use the healthyest out of the chocholate chips and just use that amout, instead of 3/4 + 1/2 of different types of choclate chips. Just add up 3/4 + 1/2 for the healthier chocolate chips, then add that.

Use Pam to spray the ramekins, instead of butter.
Cut back on white choc. chips to ¼ cup, from ½ cup.
Reduce portion size.... maybe let it make eight 1/3 cup portions.
I think you could probably back down on the superfine sugar to ½ cup, but it's hard to tell w/o actually making it that way and knowing for sure that it still comes out.
Semi-sweet choc. is probably the best, b/c it is lower in sugar than milk choc.
Some recipes, esp. baked goods w/ few ingredients, are hard to make healthier. I think this recipe is one of them.
If ou did muffins, you coudl sub baby prunes or applesauce or all or most of the liquid veg. oil..... you could use half whole wheat flour and half white All purpose flour.... you could add some oatmeal and nuts for fiber.... and you can generally cut back on sugar by 1/3 w/o affecting the final outcome.

Boy, you picked a tough one. I can't see anything you can substitute that wouldn't ruin the dessert. Except maybe spray the ramekins with cooking spray instead of butter, and use an egg substitute instead of whole eggs (like egg beaters). If you chose a cake, you could substitute apple sauce for the oil.

That's a lot of butter. Lots of trans-fats. Cut those out with a healthier margarine. You might be able to use Splenda for the sugar, and egg substitute for the eggs (less fat and cholesterol). That's all I can think of right now.

Do your own homework! I know I'll get thumbs down for this but I get tired of these questions--and it's always the day before an exam or a project, etc. and someone needs help.
And the goodhearted people keep falling into the trap of giving their skilled answers and the student doesn't have to do anything!
Arrgh!

I would substitute margarine for the butter. Cut the amount of chocolate chips by a little.
