I am a vegetarian, 37, father, teacher (around kids all day), hockey player, and basically healthy. I rarely drink and do not smoke.But I cannot kick it into gear these days. From 2 til5 are the hardest hours for me. Ideas?

Take a nap in the afternoon. 15 minute nap might make you feel almost like it's morning again. If you're only half as productive between 2 and 5 anyway it doesn't matter if you "waste" 15 minutes alltogether.

Find a good pick me up.
Three o'clock is tea time in England....tea and biscuits, etc. You need a pick me up like an Englishman.
