Electrolysis is the only way of getting rid of the hair permanently at the moment. It hurts and costs a lot of money.
An alternative is Laser Hair Removal. BUT it isn't permanent,
The laser damages the hair root and the hair should fall out. The hair should grow back but when it does, it comes back lighter in colour and should be thinner. After about six treatments the hair root should start to die.
Laser will not get rid of the hair permanently. You can try electrolysis though but it is VERY painful and uncomortable and could possible scar. It costs more than laser and hurts more.
Electrolysis works on every type of hair but Laser can't. If you have the following then you can't get Laser done:
Light hair
Dark skin
Grey hair.
Laser works best on light skin and dark hair because it makes then the laser can scan the hairs better. Laser can be expensive on large areas so try saving your money from now.
I get it done on my face and neck and I'm going to start my arms next year. It feels as if someone is snapping and elastic band against your skin. It can sometimes scab, makes the skin red and the treated areas can swell slightly. You can ask the beautician to use ice and cold gel to make it more bearable and sometimes I can't even feel the pain. It just feels as if someone is poking me!
Creams and the other magical products don't work and don't buy one of the laser machines out there which are priced at like £200($400). They won't work as they aren't strong enough. The ones that will work are around £15 000($30 000)
Go for laser if you can as it is soooo totally worth it!

Electrolysis or laser hair removal. Both can be expensive and both take several sessions (electrolysis takes many) before the hair is permanently gone.

Laser hair removal, but it's not 100% guaranteed that the hair will stay away forever. You may have to go back for top-up sessions every year or so.

Laser hair removal. One of my friends got it for a graduation gift on her legs. It's not exactly cheap and I think it may take a few sessions, but it works.

Laser. It is expensive and takes a long time if you want to remove hair in a large area.
