I have often heard this from theists when they're responding to people who say there is no evidence for the existence of God. If you believe that faith must precede the evidence, don't you think this type of approach can likely lead to a self fulfilling prophecy? If you already have sure faith that something is true, you're going to construe whatever you find to fit your faith, don't you think? Wouldn't making up your mind after reviewing the evidence be a much more accurate method?

Well said. I am constantly told that until "I accept Jesus Christ" yadda yadda I can't see him. I always reply, how bloody convenient for you!

Can't see your god, until I believe in it. Pathetic, and it really sounds like the kind of argument a child would make.

Obviously there is no proof, until you accept the delusion. What does that then make you?

i'm a Christian and that i've got not got faith in present day-day "miracles". I do have faith that God works in peoples lives. I do have faith that miracles took place in the previous. the point of miracles substitute into to instruct who Jesus and the disciples have been. provided that their miracles have been recorded and there at the instant are not any greater apostles alive, there at the instant are not any greater true miracles. John 20: 30-31 Jesus carried out many different indicators in the presence of his disciples, which at the instant are not recorded in this e book. yet those are written which you will have faith that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that via believing you have existence in his call. Matthew 24:24 For fake messiahs and fake prophets will seem and carry out great indicators and wonders to lie to, if achieveable, even the choose for.

Agree. However, 2 problems here with your logic. 1 is that you can't make up your mind after reviewing the evidence, since you are saying that you need an open mind to view it in the first place. If you are open to God or not, that is a preconceived opinion. 2nd, when are we to review this evidence? After we are dead? We could die at any time.

We need to be open to *seeing* God, I agree.

In answer to your stated question, no, I don't. I had no faith in God until I looked for and found the evidence.

no - i think that God can & DOES answer the longings & wonderings & wishing for faith, that those without faith have....

just as, people with faith often have peiods of doubt

i think that God knows that this is part of our human condition...

look at that passage in the gospels where the man said to Jesus "I believe - help my UNBELIEF"

Peace+

Funny isn't it? And I agree with what you say on it...all I can say is that I find it funny on how some people approach evidence for a religion....

I'm more inclined to believe that extreme ignorance, a mental defect or a firm bang on the skull are the basic requirements for seeing evidence of God.
