I've built some robot's however, they can't move. I'm excellent at the mechanical and electrical side but I know nothing about programming. Which programming language is good to learn first?

I would recomend Basic. The most commonly used controllers in hobby robotics are the PIC and the Basic Stamp. Both of those are programmed using versions of basic. There is another microcontroller called the PIC Axe that is popular for being cheap. It uses a version of Basic too.
Anyway, any of them can be programmed to send a high pulse to a motor driver module. that will get you robots to move.

C/ C++ is what they use for some professional applications. Are you pursuing a career in robot building? If so then C might be worthwile

C or C++ which are assemblers...
but try learning assembly for your robots' processor then you'll communicate directly to them.
