No, you didn't offend anybody. I'm in the Air Force and I'm a cop. The military is actually ok. It's not as bad as people say it is.
Yea, you work 12 to 16 hour days but it's worth it, The food is awesome and the camaraderie is amazing.
You are guaranteed a check every 1st and 15th of every month....even when you take vacations... and depending on your job, you get all the holidays off (paid).
Who could ask for more?
Free health care, free schooling...to a certain extent but they give you options.(I'm in school and so is my husband)
The benefits are amazing.
There are days when i complain but if i was working in the civilian world, I'd probably complain too....lol.
Any branch of the military is great :)

I'm not in the military, but my cousin is in the Army and he said joining it is the best decision he ever made and he just re-enlisted. Also, my Uncle has been in the Navy for more than 10 years and he likes it, he just got promoted to Lieutenant Commander actually. From what I've heard, most people in the military like the military. It's usually the people who join just to get money for college and don't care about defending the country who don't like it. And no, this section is definitely not as heated as the politics section.

I love the military. I have been in the AF for 5 years and have loved every minute of it. Sometimes the days can be long and the work can suck, but you experience things that you never would have. I currently live in Korea and am having the time of my life. About a year ago I got sent to training in Pensacola, FL. It was like a two month paid vacation. Where else are you going to be able to get 30 days a year paid vacation?

Those who have been in the Army will relate to this one.
There can be a new bulding on an army post, just opened, and unused.
What will be the first thing to be written on the latrine walls???
FTA!
But they'd do their job to the very best of their ability, and realize that being able to depend on each other is the only way to go.

Well my husband just left for Iraq, so I am going to speak for him (and for myself as well). We love the military. He gets to do so many things that he could not do out there. He gets to do his part in defending the country, drive big trucks (he loves that), help his soldiers, help train his soldiers, and take care of his family. We live a great life...while the military pay isnt great, it is good enough that I dont have to work outside the home, we both have newish cars, and we do just fine. He loves the brotherhood with his fellow soldiers, and I love the sisterhood that I have with the wives. Its a big family....I might not like all the members of my family sometimes, but we are a family! We all lean on each other and take care of each other. The army definitely takes care of its own!! So count us in the "love it" column!

Sorry, I was helping my wife with her companies Intranet site (she is so cute!)
Anyways, I loved the military while I served. I served this great nation in the US Navy for 10 years in Electronic Warfare. I am well educated, well traveled and better off for my service. There were some LONG & HARD days but, for the experience it was well worth it.

Lets see...
The days in the military are just about as long as those in civilian life... but sometimes the minutes are much longer.
The meals are sometimes better... of course they're not always steak and lobster..
The accommodations are adequate... sometimes quite nice.
The people with whom you work... well I've trusted them with my life...and they've never let me down.
The working conditions... well nothing's perfect. But there was nothing we couldn't handle.
While those who didn't stay... or didn't join... were getting inadequate accounts history being made, we were making it.
Some of those guys who only stayed in for one hitch went to work in civilian jobs. After about ten or twelve years they got into lower management... and a very vew eventually worked their way into those glassed-in corner offices way up in those tall buildings. And they dreamed about travel, adventure, sky-diving, SCUBA-diving, driving fast cars and fast boats... if they ever had the time of the money.
I was im management in three years. And, whey were still working in the mail room... or wherever they started out, I was doing all those things they dreamed about.. and I was getting paid to do them. I retired about 20 years ago at the age of 45. Some of those guys are still working 50-60 hours a week in those glassed-in corner offices.... dreaming.
I'm not to say everything was a rose garden. There were times when things went bad... but there were a lot more times when they went extremely well.
