I actually didn't know the Saudi's were the terrorists. I have not had an opinion about the war in Iraq one way or another simply because I'm too busy working and praying for my family and nation, and studying the bible to really know what has been going on or why.
Thank you for all the answers to help me understand the difference between protecting your family and this needless war.

Nope, we should kill them too. People argue that Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11. Although the Iraqis were not the one's flying the planes, that has little to do with whether or not Iraq is run by terrorism. Anyone that would suggest that Saddam was NOT a terrorist is out of their skulls. He has a long history of funding terrorism. He's gassed the people of Kuwait, Iran, and his own people in Iraq. So yes, he was a terrorist. Yes, it was right to take him out. Yes, it is still right that we are over there destroying terrorist cells. Yes, innocents have died because of it (but they are few). And yes, the world is safer today than before.

Every country has the right to protect it's citizens from external an internal threats.
You can not achieve this by invading other countries.
Afghanistan was the exception to the rule because it had broken down as a country. It was no longer an effective sovereign state. Iraq, while ruled by a ruthless bloodthirsty dictator, was a sovereign state. It harbored no more terrorists than were in the US. It sponsored no more terrorism than the US had in the past. Invading Iraq has created more terrorists than any action Bin Laden could ever have taken. It played straight into the East/West, Christian/Muslim propaganda that Bin Laden was trying to sell.
And now we are in a lose-lose situation. Having destabilized the country we can not leave it to sink into chaos. But it will never be stable while we are there.
We will be paying for Iraq for years, in soldiers' lives, in dollars and increased world terrorism.

People forget ... Saddam Hussein was hiding al queda terrorists in Iraq. He set all the oil wells in Kuwait on fire in the Persian Gulf War and that probably was the single most destructive, man-made disaster to affect the ozone in the history of the world.
Americans did what no other country wanted to do, including Canada where I live. They went into a country that harboured the Islamic extremists who were threatening the world with random destruction and scattered them in four directions. Granted, they charged into Iraq like a bull in a china shop, but I believe they tore a rift in terrorist allegiances and broke them up into smaller factions.
That's just my POV ...

I'm a Canadian. We fight terror in Afganistan, but yet we said "No" to our dear US allies regarding Iraq.
Many of our citizens were once US draft dodgers, who came to Canada when we said "No!" to Viet Nam; although we were US allies in Korea.
I studied Economics, and there is agreement Hitler ended the great world wide depression of the 1930's (but rots in hell for the holocaust).
In fact, the world war expenditures made America rich!!!
Economically, money spent on war is NOT 'down the drain'! It really stimulates your economy, because you are just paying yourselves (and you re-use that money, with more ripples of economic benefit) so you gain more than you lose!
Of course, like FDR's "New Deal" depression public works projects, building a national solar energy sytem would be the same ecomomic benifit (and save the world's ecology) while robbing the oil rich Arabs of their clout!!!
To answer your question, "YES"!!! America is well within it's rights to obey the Old Testiment teaching, "An eye for an eye"!
But an eye for an eye just leaves the whole world blind!!!
The New Testiment says:
"Love (even) your enemy"...
..."Return good for evil" ...
and ... "Turn the other cheek".
I must admit, it's hard to say how any of that Biblical wisdom would stop terrorists!
But it might get us to heaven faster!!! ;-)
Perhaps the terrorists would give up on their anarchist murder strategy if Christians would just take the blows, as our Lord Jesus Christ did...
... and bow our heads, humbly...
... praying (as He did on the cross) ... "Forgive them, Father; for they know NOT what they do"!
That would "heap coals of fire" on the heads of those murderous terrorist Muslin radicals, more so than appearing to be foreign invaders.
Can't we all just get along?

We're MAKING terrorists in Iraq...Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. That's all. Defend against terrorism, absolutely. Most of the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, Iraq was only a target because Bush, Jr. wanted to finish his dad's war...at least in my opinion...
Hope this helps.

David V has a point, isn't the whole terrorism thing about the king? cause king translated to numbers is 119147 note the reference to 9.11.1
so perhaps the english king is protecting the saudi king cause all nobles try to stick together.
and Sadam was touted as not a king but a leader of a political party.
see a country with a king would rather help a country with a king then a president, is my guess.
so yes iraq takes the fall, is my guess.

No, it's not wrong to protect your nation from terrorist threats--provided the threat is real and what form the "protection" takes.
Iraq was not a threat, and the actions taking by the US government were excessive and misplaced.
The gap between principle and practice in this case is huge.

regarding your first question.... protecting a familly.... you leave your house... how does that protect your familly... to do that you must stay at home with them .... now the threat of terrorist.... how many acts of terrorism occured by american in america... Okalahoma city is just one.... KKK running around blessed by your government and religions another... who is the terrorist in Iraq.. the americans don't they have a right to defend themselves? since 9-11 how many real attacks how many speculations.. How much paranoia? When one goes around terrorising the world as the US often does it's hard to say when it's someone else defending themselves and when it's terrorism.... what goes around comes around and that country has yet to learn that if you go around making war and back room deals with other countries... it's gonna come back at you hard...

The depths of Satan are in trenched even in our own Government....only if more people could see that are Government is not as honest as they proclaim.......Read Rev 1-3....there is one of the seven Churches that are unaware of the depths of Satan's deception in this world.....this will not effect any ones Salvation but there is a truth that many Christians are unaware of concerning these end Time deceptions......America is the Tribe of Manasseh which is Joseph's child.....and we are one of the tribes that are of Israel (Jacob)........there are so many hidden things.........Even who Israel is and where they are scattered......there are those that claim to be JEWS and are not but do lie for they are the Synagogues of Satan.
There are many truths that many will not consider....but they will not be held against no one that are unaware.
Peace out sis!
