If he paid the price for all of us, why not just let us all into heaven? If I had a debt, say of 200 dollars, and someone gave that money to the bank in my name, I don't need to "accept" that, do I? Doesn't it just automatically pay off the debts?

Because if he just automatically gave you a free pass then he would take away your right to choose. Every person has Agency - that is a right God gave us and that is a law of Heaven. If we were just automatically saved, then we could not choose for ourselves, Jesus would be choosing that for us. By Accepting Christ, then we choose salvation through him.

You could just let the $200. sit in your account and never touch it.
'The blood sacrifice of Jesus, not to mention his passion (suffering) was difficult. He had to take on the sins of humanity, which meant separation from the Father. He went through so much to save us. Is it so difficult to just accept the gift by inviting Christ into your heart? Read the bible passage in Romans 10:9-11. It explains what you need to do to accept Christ and WHY!

Banking is a bit confusing and of course cold-hearted. But, the love of God and His promise to us is plain, simple and warm in every way.

John 3:16

16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

This is the most familiar scripture, because it is the one that supports His promise for salvation. Why not read the Bible a bit more for the entire story? You will be pleased at all there is waiting for you to enjoy....start at the Book of Luke and read a little at a time. You will love it!

Peace

Because repenting from sin (accepting Him on His terms) is our part of satisfying God's judicial nature. Throughout the Bible forgiveness is contingent upon repentance. That's the way God is. And in fact that's reasonable, don't you think?

Because we have free-will, we must participate in our own salvation. Our salvation is dependant on the fact that we are to change, become new beings or "new creations" and work on restoring our fallen nature. God isn't going to force salvation on us. That is why there is a possibility of hell, which one chooses by their own deeds in this life. You are truly responsible for yourself when it comes to God.

If there is a god of all the universe and we have eternal souls, universal salvation is the only thing that makes sense. Someone who sins constantly for his full three score and ten years of life does not deserve eternal punishment. Eternal punishment never fits the crime.

Yeah, but most creditors have the online fees for making a payment. And then they charge you even MORE for making a phone payment. Or you have to buy a box of checks to mail in the payment.

Because that wouldn't be right. He sacrificed himself for you, and in return you need to believe and trust in him.. That's all he asks from you. It isn't so hard to do.
