you do realize that you don't "really" get to pick. ☺
I liked Rota Spain a lot! My tour with USMEPCOM was pretty sweet too. Coronado Ca (NAB Coronado) is real nice. MCAS Iwakuni and Camp Smith are cool.
There's this island called Diego Garcia that has a USMC detachment on it - stay away. Boringggggggg
Note: just for general info - there are a bunch of cases where the USMC uses Army AIT for training. It's getting more and more common even. When I was in the Army, they sent me to a Navy A-school. My son (USMC) went to an Army AIT. It's just normal now to share schools.

Hi SIna, The USMC will not pay for the second car. The auto shippers are all pretty much the same, 99% of vehicles get here with no damage, or they would go out of business. I would shop by price. Many people drive to the West Coast for a nice vacation and ship their cars out of a major cisy, such as SF, Seattle, or LA. When you start looking for housing on Oahu, talk to other members in your unit, or your husband's. I have never been a fan of base housing, I would live off base, since the BAH is not bad for Honolulu County. Feel free to send me an email if you have specific questions.

It's called a "Wish List" for a reason, kiddo...
And AIT is Army... I've never heard of Marines going to anything other than Marine Corps SOI for Infantry training... and I'm pretty involved in the flow of Boot Camp/SOI information. The Marines like to train their own to do things the Marine Corps way...

After you are done with your MOS school, your instructor might ask you whether you want to be stationed in the west coast, east coast or if you want to be stationed overseas. You are considered lucky if you for example, chose west coast and ended up on a base that was west of the Mississippi River.

You won't get a choice. You'll either do boot camp in Paris Island or MCRD San Diego. After that off to MCT (Marine Combat Training) or SOI (School of Infantry) depending on what your mos is. After that they will send you where you are needed. I was one of the lucky one's who got sent to good old 29Palms after SOI. Out in the biggest sandbox in the US. At least you're within driving distance of Vegas, LA, or San Diego. Thanks for your service!

You really don't get to pick. You'll be lucky if you get stationed where you want to. One of my friends wanted to be stationed in Japan and that's where he is. My other friend is in San Diego. When I join, I want to be stationed either in Japan, California or somewhere in Europe.
