austrailian shepards are incredibly hyper and needs loads of attention and training.
but huskys love to run, and need to be excersies exsessivly.
it's a tough choice, both beautiful dogs and they are both very very smart.
but if you are an extremely active person, and have the life style to put lots of time and effort into properly training your dog, either one would be a good choice.
good luck with looking for you new family member!!

there both adorable, however you should consider that these dogs have very heavy fur coats. If you live in Southern California you need to make sure these dogs can have a very cool room to stay in. you might want to consider a different type of dog. But if you decide to stay with one of these two then I think australian shepherds have a more unique look to them. I know some one who has one and it is sooo cute and very friendly. SIberian Husky are also great dogs but I would go with the australian shepherd.

It's just too hot in Southern California for a Siberian Husky. It's not right to have these dogs in such warm climates. They are both great dogs. Make sure you keep the Australian Shepard busy. They are incredibly intelligent and are true work dogs. If you don't give them a lot of exercise they can be a problem. This isn't their fault they're just very intelligent, full of energy and if you don't give this an outlet they'll find one themselves. If you aren't active it isn't fair to a breed that needs activity.

Both are very intelligent dogs, so before you choose either make sure you're ready. Huskies are great at escaping and and shepards need lots of exercise to be happy.

You might want to go with a shorthaired dog, since it's generally pretty hot down there and either breed would be rather uncomfortable. I'd go with an Australian shepard if you really want one of those two, just because they're often easier to train.

Siberian huskys are pack animals and should be kept as a pair or more, they howl a lot and need a lot of exercise.
research the breed you want to get, before you make any decision the very fact you want a husky tells me you need to do your research about both breeds first

I'd go with the Husky- not just because I have one. I've spent a lot of time with Aussies and find that they have even more energy than Huskies and become impossible to deal with unless they receive an insane amount of exercise.

Australian shepards are extremely smart dogs. My uncle trained his too do all kinds of things, and it didn't take it long to learn at all. Both are gorgeous dogs, but I prefer the husky.

shepherd. Huskies take a lot of work, and a lot of patience. More-so than the average dog breed. So unless you're willing to spend ALL your time with your dog, go with the shepherd. It really takes a special person to raise a good husky.

Both are beautiful dogs. But VERY VERY different personalities!

Consider what they were bred to do:

Siberians.....pull a sled away from you and run and run

Aussies......herd sheep and bring them to you

Although I feel there may not be a more stunning looking dog than a Siberian, the Aussie hands down
