Last year at this time I was 200 pounds and cholesterol was 222. I am now 125 pounds. I eat very healthy, low fat, rarely eat more than 40 grams a fat per day, I do at least 30 minutes or more of cardio everyday, I eat alot of soluble fiber foods daily, apples, grapes, oatmeal, wholegrains ect. I never eat fast food or fried food. Never eat chips or other salty snacks. always eat fat free dairy like yogurt, frozen yogurt, skim milk. I only drink water, lots of it, I eat fat free candy like gummi candies and lollipops a few times a week. I went for cholesterol test yesterday and it was 246! I fasted for 15 hours! How is this possible? Can eatign fat free candies be causing this?

If your cholesterol suddenly shoots up look for an infection in your body, tooth ache, non-healing cut, or anything like that. Cholesterol is stored in your liver and is sent out into the body to combat infection.

Cholesterol is cholesterol...HDL an LDL really have no bearing on your over all health.

If cholesterol goes up on a high carb diet it's probably the high carbs. Try cutting out sugars and starches and eating meat, veggies, and some dairy and see if it does come down.

70% of the total cholesterol value is determined by your genetics, dietary cholesterol intake has very little effect on that. the ratio of HDL:LDL is far more important than the total cholesterol value.
