Put baby powder down on your carpets at night and then vacuume up in the morning. Make sure you vacuume a couple times a day and change the bag once a week untill you have your fleas under controll. You can also cut a flea collar up into pieces and put a few pieces into your vacuume bag or canister. Yes treat your other animals, and keep giving baths to the kitten, the more you bathe the more fleas will be washed away. Comb her using a flea or lice comb.

Another thing is to get a good flea comb, a spray bottle and some rubbing alcohol. Have the cat on a towel that is white or light colored. Comb the cat and after each run thru, check the comb for fleas. If you see fleas at all, put the comb on the towel or some paper towel and spray the comb. That will kill the fleas. Keep repeating about 3 - 4 times a day on the kitten about 1-2 on the other animals. The vet should have something that you can give the kitten.
Don't forget that this kitten is still very young and shouldn't be away from its mom yet. So if you can, get some KMR or milk replacement and offer them some of that to drink 2x a day along with fresh water and some soft food.

It's great that you're going to put your adult animals on flea prevention right away. In the meantime, you should try to keep the kitten separated from them. You can bathe her in a mild shampoo, starting with the areas around her ears, eyes, mouth and bottom-- fleas will try to get into any opening to get away from the soap. When she is still wet, comb her with a fine tooth flea comb because you can really see the fleas and their eggs on wet fur.
You might not notice the fleas in your carpet or other household items if the infestation is mostly on one animal. However, you may start to get itchy red bumps or see them jumping onto light-colored furniture. Once all of your animals are on flea control, the fleas will probably disappear on their own. You'll see a lot of dead fleas lying around for a couple of days. Until then you can try putting some Sevendust or Black Flag powder in your vacuum cleaner's dirt cup or bag and vacuuming your carpets and upholstery as often as you can... preferably every day. That will keep the infestation to a minimum.

Well, I sympathize with you fleas suck!
Second, I too have always been an animal rescuer and I know the bottle says not to but I have ALWAYS shampooed the animals with the species appropriate flea shampoo....If I were you I would get the frontline PLUS, it's the only thing that works, I've tried them all including Advantage and Advantix....I would also get the carpet/wood floor sprinkle powder, apply it, let it sit overnight then vacuum and make sure to throw away your vacuum bag or empty your canister if you have a bagless vacuum, seal the garbage and get it out of the house....also, wash all the bedding your pets use in hot water and dry in the dryer if possible.....spray the animal living areas with Bronco spray, available at walmart...you can also spray dogs with it just don't get it in their eyes.
Hope this helps!

bathe the cat not necessarily in pert plus...i would try a baby shampoo or gentle soap its not the soap that is going to rid the kitten of fleas in will be the water, the water is going to drown the fleas and pay special attention to the face and ears because that is where they will run once you submerge the body of the kitten into the water ( use a washcloth for these areas) and it may take more than one bath and make sure you keep the kitten warm after baths and keep her in a bathroom until you dont see anymore fleas

I just went to the vet for my cat's flea problem. The vet recommended "Capstar". A single dose of Capstar should kill the adult fleas on your kitten-cat-or dog. If your pet gets re-infested with fleas, you can safely give another dose as often as once per day.
Capstar is safe on your kittens, cats, dogs and puppies 4 weeks of age and older. It begins working within 30 minutes, and it is 90% effective within the first 4-6 hours.
(By the way, I read this straight off the box!)
It's a small pill. I smashed it up and put it in Layla's favorite treat....tuna. She ate it right up, and she hasn't scratched, and I haven't spotted a flea in over two weeks.
I definitely think this is the way to go. OH, and it only cost about $3.00 per pill, or you can get a box of 6 for $13.00!

Don't wash the kitten, that's a waste of time. Who told you to do that anyway?
It's the Frontline spot-on that can't be used until 8 weeks of age. Frontline SPRAY can be used from 2 days of age, so get some from your vet now.

Start the "Frontline" on the other animals ASAP.
Keep your house as cold and dry as possible to keep the fleas from spreading.
If you get an infestation you will know it and you will need a professional externinator to get rid of them.
