How do they have 5 I though the limit was 4 am I mistaken

Yes, Roush-Fenway Racing does currently field 5 teams, but NASCAR just implemented this season that teams could only have 4 drivers. NASCAR has told Roush that he must shrink his team to 4 drivers by the start of the 2009 season, so one of the drivers will be let go between now and then. I hope this makes sense to you. =)

Rousch has a grandfather clause to fulfill obligations to his sponsors. He had 5 cars before the rule was made. I don't know when he has to go to four cars, but sooner or later he will.

Because of sponsors and contractual agreements, they will have 5 teams in 2008 too. One team will have to be sold or dissolved by the 2009 season.

Money. As in $$$$. He has a partner plus sponsors. I believe he has to phase one car out by 2009, I'm not sure what year. All teams will not have more than four.
NASCAR has not mandated it, but they are encouraging single car teams to merge. They feel NASCAR will be stronger if all are 2-4 car teams.

Next year the 4 team rule begins to apply. Not sure who is going to lose their ride with the team though, but someone needs to.

I belive they have titl next year to get rid of one of there teams i think when nacar put the limit they gave them time to work out how they would get rid of a team and who they get rid of
