Theres so much choice. I cant afford to buy much, and I can't carry much home, so I end up getting bad combinations of things & not what I readlly need. Shopping is too much for me. So is eating.

the shop is more than 20 times the size of my usual shop. Its something of a culture shock. I keep on seeing things that I had no idea they existed. I never intend to go to the big shop, but sometimes end up there due to unreliable busses.

If I spend more than £10 I feel very uncomfortable.

Maybe try a smaller store and like the others said, make a shopping list before you go. Failing that - try Tesco.com and join up with a neighbour or friend to share the cost of delivery.

I find I sometimes do the same and end up buying a load of *rap! Instead of the things I really need. I think it kind of boils down to buying feel good things, everything looks inviting and good value, they are very clever at sucking you in, they have specially trained staff to plan where and how things look and stand out in a supermarket to make us poor gits buy it! I feel goos when I buy all the rubbish stuff, then the guilt sets in when I have just finished another whole bar of choc, or a new top knowing I'm a fat knacker and need groceries!

Decide what you're going to have to eat for each meal during the next couple of days. Then write a shopping list and go buy it! As it's just for a day or two there won't be loads, so you should be able to carry it home ok. Good luck!

Make a list before you go. Check what you have in supply first. Check the specials at the store. Plan for a few days or weeks worth of meals. Make a list of only what you need, including quantities. And then shop. Get staples like tuna, eggs, bread, milk, coffee...produce, etc.

To shop at the most undesirable place on the planet is enough to make any one ill, see your doctor immediately.
Ask your best friend to advise you on "farmer's markets" or local "little"shops called :
Bakers.
Butchers.
Fruit & Veg specialist shops.
These places are FRESH, the people who own and serve you are kind and always have a friendly chat, you don't need a "club card".
Your not "obliged" to buy so you won't overspend.
Happy shopping.!!!

I deliberately go to a smaller tesco because the big one overwhelms me too. I was in a huge Asda the other day and couldn't think straight with what to get! Too much choice, too big. I know my local smaller tesco really well though, so maybe it would just be a case of getting used to the bigger one x

The key to dealing with anxiety is planning. You need to decide beforehand what your gameplan is and stick to it, and remember this applies to things other than shopping!
