Differs from dog to dog. Some dogs will go into heat closer to a year and others it might be more like 6 months. It seems like the smaller breeds take longer to mature.
If you spay her there won't be anything to worry about. Plus you will avoid all the other annoying stuff that goes along with intact animals.

Dogs will go into heat between four months and a year, with smaller dogs usually having their first heat later than larger breeds. The best thing to do for your dog (and yourself) is to spay her BEFORE her first heat cycle. A dog that is spayed before her first heat is much less likely to have cancer later. You also will be avoiding adding problems to the already horrible problem of pet over population.

She could come in heat at any time. I would take her immediately to the vet and have her spade. You will be glad in the long run.

Get her spayed now before it comes. Better to not have to worry about it and not contribute to the overpopulation problem!!

Spay her before she goes into heat and you won't have to worry about it.
