Dusto, When I was a kid I stuttered very badly. I had a telephone operator explain to me that I was thinking too far ahead of what I wanted to say and the words got stuck. She said when I start to stutter to stop and take a deep breath and start over s l o w l y and wonder of wonders it worked ! I still sometimes stutter when I get in a hurry or am nervous and forget to take my time. You can write me if you want and we can talk more because I do understand your difficulty. Just remember to refresh my memory if you do write me. Hope I gave you some helpful information.

I know this sounds pretty radical and silly but I knew someone who started singing the words he couldn't say in order to stop stuttering. Not necessarily in front of people but in his own spare time--like singing a reading passage aloud instead of reading it. Eventually he could talk in public after all the practice with no problem.

go to the web site for The Stuttering Foundation of America and you'll find a world of information...the brochures section gives some helpful tips...the more you try not to stutter, the more you will...check your library for "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" or get it in the Foundation's estore. It helped several of my family members overcome stuttering.

I have the same issue. I just started speaking slowly. Think about what you are about to say before you say it. It really helps. ALso try reading out load. Reading a book or poetry even will help if you do it everyday.
Hope this is helpful.
